Action shots are definitely fun, especially when it involves pouring chocolate sauce on ice cream! Just make sure to practice your pouring skills beforehand so you don't end up wasting a bunch of ice cream if it doesn't go smoothly at first. And make sure the light is behind the ice cream and a little off to the side to really make it pop. . Leading the way. What catches your eye when you look at this photo. Is it the brighter white and pink orchids over blue and grey stones or the warm bowl of soup? Despite both components of the photo occupying a similar area in view, having a hand holding the bowl acts as a leading line; an important compositional technique. This causes your gaze to follow down towards the fingertips, resting on the hero of the shot. Have you ever tried savoury crepes finely cut in a clear broth soup? Miniature Masterpieces: Tiny Versions of Popular Dishes likely refers to a culinary trend or concept that involves creating miniature versions of well-known dishes. This could include smaller portions of classic recipes or innovative ways to reimagine large-scale dishes in a bite-sized format. Miniature masterpieces often combine the appeal of familiar flavors with the novelty of presentation, making them a popular choice for gourmet events, food photography, and creative dining experiences.

An Interesting Week of Whisky Education!!! 🥃 I had a fantastic weekend in England's Western Lake District staying at the gorgeous The Wayside and Whisky Barn. A beautiful 17th century house with its own whisky room holding over 160 whiskies to sample. So I've obviously had to come home with a couple of new additions to my whisky collection. I've only been drinking whisky for a year, I used to like gins and ended up with a decent size collection of around 30 bottles. But then I decided in 2022 to give up alcohol for a year, which went on to being 18 months in the end. The strange thing is when I did go back to drinking I'd actually gone off gin altogether, how weird is that? So a friend got me to try whisky, and that was me converted. 🥃 I'm slowly beginning to understand what I like and what I don't. I do prefer a non-peaty whisky, one that's darker in colour usually from a sherry cask or red wine cask, with dried fruit undertones, basically I like whisky that tastes and looks like Christmas cake 😂. These two are both sherry cask, dark in colour, cask strength too at 52% and 56%, the Glenturrett bottle is gorgeous, very heavy, it's like a crystal cut glass. So that's me spent up on whisky for a while after a couple of days of tasting 12 and 18 year old single malts. It was really fun learning and discovering different tastes, especially when the owner of the whisky barn was so knowledgeable and took all the fancy talk and mystery away. I think I'll now be able to confidently buy a slightly more expensive whisky knowing that I'll like the taste and it suits my preferences. Are you a whisky drinker or do you prefer, a craft gin or a good wine? 🍷🍇 #creatingsuccessfulphotographers #photography #whisky #photographybusiness

Decoding Cognac Age Statements⏳ Cognac, the elegant spirit from the Cognac region of France, is celebrated for its refined flavors and aging process. If you love drinking Cognac you might have seen some strange abbreviations written on its label and wondered what do they mean, Here’s a quick guide: 1. VS (Very Special): The youngest eau-de-vie in a VS cognac is at least 2 years old. Expect fresh, vibrant, and fruity notes, ideal for cocktails. 2. VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale): With the youngest eau-de-vie aged at least 4 years, giving the blend a more rounded and mature flavour. 3. XO (Extra Old): The youngest eau-de-vie in an XO cognac must be at least 10 years old. These cognacs are rich and complex, with deep notes of dark fruits, chocolate, and tobacco, perfect for savoring neat. 4. Napoleon: Often used interchangeably with XO, Napoleon cognacs are aged for a minimum of 6 years, offering a mature and well-rounded profile. 5. XXO (Extra Extra Old): A newer category, XXO cognacs must be aged for at least 14 years, delivering incredibly rich and layered flavors. Understanding these age statements can enhance your cognac selection, allowing you to choose a bottle that matches your preferences and the occasion. What’s your favorite type of cognac? Share your thoughts and let’s raise a glass to the timeless elegance of this exceptional spirit! 🥂 #beverage #cognac #XXO #Napolean #XO #VSOP #VS #foodandbeverage #hotelier

You need a hero!!! Every food photograph requires a hero - a clear feature in the frame that is the priority dish. The point in the photograph which your eye goes to & stays. How is a hero created? •Careful lighting - the hero should be the lightest position of the frame, whilst maintaining perfect exposure. •Focusing - the hero should be in focus whilst those around it may purposely blurred. •Colours - whether contrasting or harmonising, the colours within your photograph should complement the hero not distract from it. •View point - whilst some food works well with any focusing angle, others have a particular direction or angle that works perfectly for them. All this was used when I took the photograph below: The stack of spaghetti with bolognese sauce & basil on top is clearly the hero. It is the most central item in the frame, the clearest, most focused part of the photograph, and the point at which your eye goes straight to & instantly makes you hungry! ✉️ Calling all restaurant owners, cafe owners, bar owners, chefs, food and drink creatives, would your business benefit from scroll stopping, mouth watering professional photographs of your food?
