The Road to Paris 2024: Can African Boxing Turn the Tide? #Boxing has been a key part of the Olympic Games since 1904, yet African boxers have only claimed 5% of the total Olympic boxing medals over the past 120 years. As #Paris2024 approaches, there's a pressing need to bridge this gap and enhance the presence of African boxing on the global stage. In the Boxing Africa Qualifier held in #Senegal from September 9 to 15, #2023, only 18 African athletes from eight countries secured Olympic spots. This accounts for just 7% of the 248 Olympic boxing spots distributed across various continents. The World Qualification Tournament in Busto Arsizio, #Italy, from March 3 to 11, 2024, was another tough challenge. Despite the participation of 68 African boxers, none secured a spot for Paris 2024. However, there is renewed hope as 73 African boxers compete in the World Olympic Qualifiers in Bangkok, Thailand, from May 25 to June 2, 2024. While the qualifiers in Senegal showed promise, the overall results highlight the need for a strategic overhaul in how African nations prepare and compete in boxing at the highest levels. Elevating African boxing requires focused efforts and comprehensive strategies to ensure better outcomes in future international competitions.

To change the outcome, we must change our outlook. Women’s boxing was first legalised in 1998 in the UK. Even after it was legalised, lack of access to funding and support kept many from competing. Nicola Adams shattered perceptions of who is allowed to compete and succeed in sport—becoming the first female boxer to win Olympic gold. 🥊🥇 We’re tracking the impact of firsts that have happened at the Olympic and Paralympic Games and how they’ve shaped the world. Controversial Paris Olympics 2024 Defeat Their is lot going on wrt our boxer. Nishant Dev. It's the same case when Mary Kom won against many thinking Otherwise. Boxing is a very subjective game leaving much on individual appreciation, what you see is split decision 4-1 what you don't see is range of split decision. if you see numbers the winner has been given 10 and looser 9, so that no one can challenge as this much difference can be there in individual appreciation. Moreover, we all make, have been making and will continuing making fuss over decision making in Boxing, but who is responsible.... SQUARELY US 2016 Rio Olympics Boxing was to be banned in Olympics as it did not have provision for any form of REFERRALS. many meetings happened, penalties levied, federation suspended, but nothing happened because Everybody wanted a REFERRAL SYSTEM in OLYMPICS ONLY. During voting everybody wanted to vote for REFERRALS but their vote is only valid if the country voting have adopted the system of voting in their own country. So the net result was zero as no country was willing to introduce the system inwards because of the internal strength it gives it to the officials. Lastly Marcos Verde is a known name. He is winner on PAN America Boxing and is also son of ... Emanuel Verde 1992 Olympian. Hope it brings some clarity.. #injusticeolympic2024 #injusticeboxing #marcosverde #nishantdev #wbf

Olympic #womensboxing fever is in the air! The Turkish team, for one, is participating in triangular and quadrangular camps sharing training and pre-Olympics bouts with teams from Columbia and France through June 30th. Next up will be test matches with teams from Bulgaria, India, and Ireland. The excitement and commitment of these fighters will *hopefully* fuel decisions by the varying national federations to sign on to World Boxing, and thus ensure that boxing will remain an Olympic sport at the 2028 LA Games! OUTRAGE IN OLYMPIC BOXING!🏅 India's Nishant Dev was robbed of a clear victory in the Men's 71 kg boxing event, sparking widespread outrage and disbelief. Despite dominating the match against his Mexican opponent, Nishant was denied the win due to questionable judging. Here's a recap of the match: 🥊Round 1: Nishant outboxed his opponent with ease. 🥊Round 2: Nishant edged ahead by a narrow margin. 🥊Round 3: The Mexican boxer slightly gained ground, but Nishant still deserved the win. The unjust decision has left fans and athletes fuming, with many calling for transparency and accountability in Olympic judging.
