    Balancing vulnerability and capability is crucial in our work empowering children and young people, especially in spaces designed for their participation. Often, well-meaning efforts to protect them can unintentionally stifle their voices. But vulnerability shouldn’t silence them; rather, it’s their right to be heard, to contribute, and to influence the systems that shape their lives. True trauma-informed practice requires us to protect and empower. As professionals, we must listen to children and young people’s lived experiences, involve them in their therapeutic journeys, and ensure their voices drive change. In our latest blog, our Senior Project Lead of Child and Youth Participation and Engagement, Lauren Thomas, explores this delicate balance and how crucial it is to recognise both vulnerability and capability in children and young people rather than one or the other.
