I just found an interesting article about the increasing number of early-stage startups becoming #unicorns. Here are some insights: ▪️Early-Stage Unicorns in Numbers: By July 2024, 70 new unicorns were created, with 28 emerging after early-stage funding (seed, Series A, or Series B). This is just one shy of the 29 early-stage unicorns from all of last year, but still well below the 107 and 77 minted in 2021 and 2022, respectively. ▪️AI Dominance: Most early-stage unicorns are in the AI sector, with notable companies like Elon Musk’s xAI and Moonshot AI, showcasing strong investor interest in this area. ▪️Diverse Sector Representation: In addition to AI, sectors such as Web3, retail, space, and defense also saw startups reach unicorn status after early funding, indicating a broader investment landscape. ▪️Investor Behavior: Despite discussions about declining valuations, the rise of early-stage unicorns suggests a complex market where investors continue to support young companies at high valuations, reminiscent of past trends.
