An arts degree program isn't measured by 'job placement' or 'the marketplace'. This is insidious capitalistic propaganda that institutions of learning are now using. The arts by far are the most important tool is developing an society based on empathy, inclusion, and problem-solving. Instead, today’s students engaged in creative expression are now constantly being badgered to seek ‘jobs’. Mind you, universities only care if you wind up working at a corporation, not at a regional theatre or an arts centre. Why? So they can print and profit off of promoting the COMPANY you work at - not actually YOU or your creative pursuits and dreams. From communities to civilizations, in ALL of history, societies are studied and remembered through the ARTS - not by stock prices and employment figures.

I saw it all over higher ed, and I'm sure you do too. It's the difference between encouraging a deep and meaningful life and training students to chase a dollar.
