Sir Dave Brailsford, long serving chief of the British Cycling Team and the person to whom the marginal gain doctrine is attributed to. Namely, upon becoming Chief of the BCT in 2003 he implemented the marginal gain doctrine which focuses on small, incremental steps (or up to 1% getting better) in different segments of that sport. As a result of that, in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics the BCT won 8 gold medals, something that was unthinkable in the 100 years long history of the sport. What's most important is that this concept is applicable and gives results in all other walks of life; business, relationship, personal development, education, science etc. #marginalgaindoctrine #incremental #gettingbetter #education ##personaldevelopment

Hey, Folks! I am giving a talk here at Christopher Newport University on March 21st, from 12:20pm-1:20pm in MCM 101. Spread the word, and please attend! Title: "Bad Competition: The Vices Formed Through Sports" Here is a blurb of what I plan to talk about: What if there are certain vices that support peak performance? Should we permit high-level athletes to be bad people, in certain respects, if it means they will get more out of themselves in competitions? This talk explores the concept of Performance-Enhancing Vices—defects of character that assist us to perform well as athletes. It asks what, if anything, we should do about these vices.
