Mohammad is a master class on why you should invest in your internal influencers and develop a comprehensive toolkit and strategy for employee generated content (EGC?!). People like Mohammad are a walking talking manifestation of your EVP - and no amount of clever copy or ads will connect with candidates in the same way that Mohammad's natural passion and enthusiasm does. Who wants to hear from the guy in the C-Suite when they could speak to the guy who's going to sit next to them in the canteen every day? There's a Mohammad in your business right now - what are you doing to find them? #evp #employerbrand

I just resigned from Heathrow Airport... Because after 5 years of living my dream, things started to change... . As many of you know, over the past 5 years I have built an online community of over half a million people across platforms where I teach and educate about how the aviation industry works! . Taking people behind the scenes, I've taught a global audience about everything from the baggage systems, to runway lights, to the trains underground. . As a result, this has moved the needle on Heathrow's early careers recruitment in a measurable way! . 53% of current engineering apprentices and graduates raised their hand when asked the questions " Put your hand up, if seeing my videos online inspired you to want to join Heathrow engineering?" . Fifty Three Percent!!!! That is more than half the room! 🤯 . What really put a smile on my face was that the majority of those with their hand up, were from diverse backgrounds and women. . So with the skills shortage that our industry is currently going through, and will continue to go through, I realised something... . Not only do I truly love learning about this industry, but I'm obsessed with teaching it in a way that can inspire the next generation to choose aviation and engineering as a career choice! . This is when things began to change... because my dream changed. . I want to spend the next chapter of my career teaching the world about all the amazing opportunities that this industry has to offer! Not just at Heathrow, but everywhere! . I will be doing that as "The Airport Guy". . I am now an independent content creator, who is on a mission to help the entire aviation industry educate and attract the next generation of diverse talent using the power of social media! . If you think I could add value to the work your organisation is doing, just send me a message or tag the relevant person below. Let's have a chat! . I wanted to also take a moment to thank all of my friends and colleagues at Heathrow who have supported me over the years. You have truly changed my life by being so generous with your time, knowledge and insight. I appreciate every one of you from the bottom of my heart. . Let the adventure begin! . . . If you'd like to follow my journey, I'll put a link to my Instagram page in the comments below 🙏🏼 . #TheAirportGuy

Why Soft Skills Are the Secret Weapon in Your Aviation Career Soft skills are often referred to as the "secret weapon" in your career. This is because they are the key to setting yourself apart in the workplace. While technical skills and knowledge are crucial, it’s your ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with others and navigate complex social dynamics that truly makes you stand out. Let's look at some of the soft skills your employer will look for in you. Communication In aviation, clear communication can make or break a situation. Whether you're a cabin crew member calming a nervous passenger or a ground staff coordinating with pilots, your ability to convey information effectively is crucial. How good you are as a team player Aviation is a team effort. From the ground crew to the flight attendants, every role depends on the other. Soft skills like collaboration and adaptability ensure that everything runs smoothly. Are you Empathetic enough for the role? Understanding and addressing passenger needs is at the heart of customer service in aviation. Empathy allows you to connect with passengers, making their journey more comfortable and memorable. Example: Assisting a mother traveling alone with a baby shows empathy, turning a stressful situation into a positive experience. How good you are with Problem-Solving (under pressure) The aviation environment is fast-paced, and situations can change in an instant. Strong problem-solving skills help you stay calm and find solutions quickly. Example: Imagine a scenario where a passenger’s luggage goes missing—your ability to resolve the issue efficiently leaves a lasting impression. How culturally aware are you? Aviation professionals interact with people from diverse backgrounds. Cultural awareness helps you provide personalized service, respecting different customs and preferences. Example: Understanding dietary restrictions and offering appropriate meal options during an international flight showcases cultural sensitivity. Soft skills aren’t just add-ons; they’re essential tools that can elevate your aviation career. At Entrepot Training Institute, we have a dedicated module for soft skills that we will teach as part of select training programs. Need More Info? Congratulations! You have been invited to your first Cabin Crew Open Day. Or wait, wasn’t it a Recruitment Day? Assessment Centre? Is there even a difference?! Airlines often operate similarly, however they do have their differences. When it comes to launching Hiring campaigns for cabin crew, airlines usually set a day aside to present their airline to potential candidates, to assess those candidates and interview them. This is largely due to the fact that most hire for volume to fill ground schools. An Open Day is one where anyone can attend. You register your interest, and on the day you show up dressed in business attire, Resume in hand and access to your certificates (First Aid, CPR, RSA, Passport etc.). An Assessment Centre is another term for a Recruitment Day. These are usually invite-only, and you need to have been shortlisted by the Recruitment team to attend. In any of these scenarios, it is important to be prepared prior attending. You need to be ready to show up in the group activities, present yourself professionally and make sure you omit confidence. For an in depth understanding of these days, our comprehensive Cabin Crew guidebook is available for purchase from our website, visit: www.theskycoach.com #cabincrewcoach #skycoach #recruitmentday #openday

This site is all about careers, so why not talk a bit about mine? Here are a few things you may or may not have known about flight attendants. 1. We and our families can fly for free on our days off. Last week, in fact, I had the privilege of flying to Melbourne, Australia, with my parents in First Class for $0.00. 2. Depending on the airline, we do quite a bit of unpaid work. Generally, we are compensated for time spent between cabin door closure and cabin door reopening. Boarding, deplaning and time spent in airports is unpaid. 3. Competition for this career is fierce. One top carrier alone attracts over 100,000 applicants annually, with fewer than 1% receiving a job offer. Once a job offer is extended, employment is contingent on the completion of FAA-regulated training, which many people are unfortunately not able to successfully finish. 4. Training can be anywhere between four and seven weeks. During this time, prospective crew are trained in service, security protocol, emergency basic life support and even inflight firefighting. Most airlines do not even train for customer service skills during this time, as trainees are expected to have already developed that knowledge earlier in their careers. Training is, at many airlines, unpaid. 5. We are required to be exceedingly flexible, with most carriers expecting new hires to relocate to whichever city they have open positions to fill. Your base city will likely not even be announced until you begin training. Many flight attendants work on-call, with some airlines requiring crew to be on standby the full 24 hours of their assigned days. So there are some things you may or may not have known about my job. What's something you wish people knew about your job?

Some of us have to apply and prove ourselves for the same job 3 times First, to the hiring company Second, to the immigration of the hiring country And third, to the immigration of our local country This is the typical professional OFW experience It’s not just enough that we passed our job interviews We also have to prove ourselves capable of being approved for work visas And even after getting the work visa, we still have to prove to our country that our employment is valid through the Overseas Employment Certificate or OEC Times 3 effort Still, many of us take the risks Not only to prove to other people But also to ourselves That we can survive outside our comfort zones That we are skilled enough to thrive in another country Because not many people will dare to do the same And even if the will is there, it’s no longer possible due to many reasons To get from here to there It’s not all about luck Definitely, don’t just believe that you’re lucky It took effort on your part and 3X effort than the usual migrant So if you’re an OFW who dares to face the risks and opportunities of living and working abroad this year, continue to have faith in yourself In due time, your international experience will be worth it. #OFWstories #internationalexperience #accountinsights #accountinstories #busyseasonjournals
