L.A.'s Torah-scrolls got saved, Boruch HaShem, in the midst of ~100K people's being made homeless. We'd like to do something to help the people involved, and their families. I am the rabbi of Jewish Center of Indian Country, Guthrie, Oklahoma -- it's rural -- and have info on where some Jewish (and other) people who need to relocate to a place with comparatively low cost for rent or for home purchase, can go regroup in a location where Jews are (B"H, so far) NOT being singled-out for violence from either the Left or from the Right. Re. shul: We have a semi-shul here (Jewish Center of Indian Country) that is Modern Orthodox, that could get more active. Annual Public Menorah lighting at City Hall. The mechitzah, etc., are non-negotiable. I'm the rabbi. Would welcome some of the men to function as sha"tz. The place could get more active & that would be great. Also, there's a Chabad and other things 45 minutes away in Oklahoma City; and we are ~40 minutes from Stillwater, where Oklahoma State University, a real powerhouse, is located. We're ~1.5 hours, perhaps, from Tulsa, which is even more active than OKC. Re. housing (inexpensive compared to L.A.): for those 65 and up, clean roomage of <~770? sq. ft. readily available (at present). Also, rent and house-purchase also available. Re. (Remote, i.e., work-from-home) employment: have actionable information: (1) LinkedIn; also, VirtualVocations & RatRaceRebellion email lists have legit leads. (2) Additionally, have work-opportunities info for individuals w Masters Degree or more, Higher Ed teaching experience, other qual's (JOAs are on LinkedIn). This *is* personal for us, too -- places where we had significant personal history (Torah-reader there, Fingerhut Building where we taught, Grampy of blessed memory's synagogue) just burned to the ground. Unbelievable (but, believable). Shall post on JCIC's Facebook page. You are in our davening, as are all affected (including our beloved animals). Zeit gebentscht.
A small beacon of hope amid such immense tragedy and loss. We pray for the safety of the people of California ♥️

Brilliant and impactful work Krystal Dacey! 🎉👏 Such fantastic news that Hadi Nazari was found safe! It’s inspiring to see the dedication and expertise of search and rescue teams in action, and your insights into lost person behavior and search strategies highlight the vital role this work plays. Well done! 🙌 Charles Sturt University #PhD #ResearchExcellence #SearchAndRescue #LostPersonBehavior #MakingADifference #CSUResearch 💡

I was over the moon to hear that lost hiker Hadi Nazari was found yesterday and hope he and his family were able to rest peacefully last night knowing he is safe and well. It’s also been an opportunity for me to get out there and talk to the public about our field of lost person behaviour and search strategies. I hope I was able to highlight the effort of the amazing search and rescue officers and volunteers who were out there in the intense terrain for nearly two weeks searching. Outstanding work!

Zomato's Emergency Hero Service: A Marketing Perspective 🚀 Zomato's latest initiative, as showcased in the shared post, highlights an impressive yet unique service: 30,000 of their delivery partners are now trained to provide first aid and CPR during critical road emergencies. This campaign is marketed with the striking message: "We hope you never use this Zomato service." Good Points: 1. Social Responsibility: Zomato's initiative demonstrates corporate social responsibility, showcasing their commitment to community welfare. 2. Brand Loyalty: By training delivery partners in first aid, Zomato builds trust and goodwill among customers. 3. Distinctive Messaging: The use of reverse psychology in "We hope you never use this service" grabs attention and creates curiosity. 4. Visibility and Engagement: The post has garnered significant engagement, showing that the message resonates with the audience. Areas to consider: 1. Implementation Challenge: Ensuring all 30,000 partners maintain their training and are available in emergencies could be challenging. 2. Awareness and Training Quality: Continuous updates and rigorous training are necessary to ensure high-quality emergency response. People's Feedback: - Positive Reception: Many appreciate the added layer of safety and praise Zomato for their innovative approach to community service. - Concerns: Some express concerns about the practical aspects of this service, such as the actual readiness of delivery partners during emergencies. Additional Perspective: Despite this great service, the working conditions of delivery partners remain a concern. These workers often face immense pressure to deliver food on time, risking their lives by breaking traffic rules due to the strict penalties for late deliveries. Coming from low-income backgrounds, they endure significant stress, highlighting the need for better overall working conditions. To conclude, Zomato's campaign is a brilliant blend of social responsibility and innovative marketing. By empowering their delivery partners and ensuring customer safety, they elevate their brand image beyond just a food delivery service. The positive feedback underscores the campaign's success, while the concerns highlight areas for Zomato to address, ensuring the initiative's long-term sustainability and effectiveness at the same time ensuring there own delivery partners safety. Congratulations to Deepinder Goyal and team Zomato for setting the 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝 for the largest first aid lesson at a single venue, together with 4,300 delivery partners. 🎉🎉 💬 What do you think about Zomato's emergency hero service and the working conditions of delivery partners? Share your thoughts! Every Life is Precious The fight against slavery has taught humanity an enduring truth: every life is valuable, and every soul deserves dignity and protection. On this International Day for the Abolition of Slavery (December 2nd), we reflect not only on the horrors of human exploitation but also on our shared responsibility to safeguard life in all its forms. Road safety echoes the same profound message. Just as we work tirelessly to free lives from the chains of slavery, we must commit to protecting lives on our roads. Every journey deserves care, every life deserves protection, and every act of responsibility can prevent a tragedy. Let today inspire us to be champions of freedom and safety. Whether it’s ensuring a child escapes the grip of slavery or creating safer roads for families, we all have a role to play in building a world where every life thrives. Together, we can break chains and save lives. It's hard to believe it is 7 years on from the most tragic and shocking failure of a building in modern times. Grenfell has triggered a much needed shake up of legislation and changes to practice. This is throughout from product testing, design through to build management and quality. As an industry we don't need to just change our legislation but our attitude to building safety. Everyone should be safe in their home. as a newly qualified Architect, I always use Grenfell as a point of reflection. when I meet a client or contractor who argues why they have to follow our specifications because it 'costs more' I always remind them of the 72 people who lost their lives, and the families and neighbourhood which have been effected. The new changes in legislation have ensured attention is given to the safety of a building throughout it's use and start. I, as well as many of my peers are still finding our way through the new regulations. They are generally complex and in places not clear. It is imperative that as an industry we come together to ensure the new regulations are clear and unambiguous to avoid the repeat of such a tragedy.
Today marks 7 years since the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower. We remember the people who lost their lives, the survivors, and the bereaved. While building safety has improved, more must be done to prevent future tragedies. We are committed to working with the next Government and the sector to create a safer future for all.
