Over the last few weeks we have been running a new system test in our Electromobility Lab! We have performed a BEMU traction system test. The elements tested included the batteries and storage system together with the motors, transformer and INGETRAC converter. The main objectives are to check the performance of the whole traction system & to check the integration between the different elements in order to reduce the vehicle test time.

ARCHERS ASSEMBLE! Making progress on production lines in San Jose, CA. The powertrain (electric engine (motor/gearbox/inverter) and battery) lines incorporate decades of learnings of my team and me from stints at Tesla, Apple, Bloom Energy, Rivian, Lucid, BMW,…. It’s about the little mistakes that cost you dearly. If you can avoid them because you’ve done in the past….priceless. You cannot be “a signpost”. You have to have been there, done it. And it’s about “clever” automation. Making conscious decisions where to automate and where not is really important. Automating nowhere is not an option, but automating everywhere is none either. Your guiding stars have to be the “biggest bang for the buck” and rigorous safety considerations.
