From the desk of Dr. Gerilyn Davis: Happy Thursday! I wish you a fulfilling day. Reviewing the week puts me in a position where I reflect on the joy of aligning with inclusion. When we focus on inclusion, we receive justice, equity, and diversity by default, or it’s not inclusivity. Hence, we view everything with an inclusive lens and alter behavior accordingly. Here are a few examples. --- SEEK ALIGNMENT VS. AGREEMENT: We align on honoring each other’s perspective versus attempting to agree with the experience. --- SEEK EMPOWERMENT VS. FEAR: Because we know our strengths, we can face our fears together and feel empowered to move forward. --- SEEK EXPANSION VS. CONTRACTION: We are more open to co-creating a pathway forward by being creative and collaborative. The SWORD Inclusion system can foster Inclusion on the Slopes. Once we feel equipped to be inclusive and included, we experience the joy of inclusion! I would hate for anyone to miss out on this experience. While inclusive governance can feel or appear to be a lofty term. It implies more focus on how we choose to conduct order. Inclusive governance is a means of how we focus our attention. Here are some of the benefits inclusive governance provides: PROACTIVE-APPROACH: By being inclusive, we proactively address concerns because we have the relationship to support the dialogue. ANTICIPATE FUTURE: With more perspectives, we have more information that influences future decision-making. SOLUTIONS - ORIENTED: As inclusive governance occurs, we uncover solutions that we couldn't have foreseen on our own. There is a common thread within inclusive governance and just plain daily life. We can also self-govern inclusively as well. It is truly life-changing! In Phase Four: Review Weekly of the SWORD Inclusion System, we define success to sustain our continued efforts. The intention is to equip organizations and individuals to create inclusion in everyday life. Here are some steps to sustain inclusive success. --- SEEK OUT INCLUSION: It’s important to keep seeking opportunities for more inclusion and celebrate how it feels. --- MAKE IT A TOPIC OF INTEREST: By making it a continuous topic or a company value, it is easier to focus on.  --- INCLUDE IT IN ALL ASPECTS: Inclusion is in strategy, marketing, operations, and financials because exclusion is too pervasive. The more inclusion we have, the more people which equals more success. To me, being on snow is truly heaven on earth. Why not share it!? What a joy to wake up and see another day.  The main objective of the SWORD Inclusion system is to foster an environment that produces an inclusion system while cultivating an inclusive organizational culture. When we can fully assess every aspect of who we are and the organization through an inclusive lens, we notice the endless opportunities an inclusive culture provides. --- We plan inclusion efforts within all aspects of an organizational structure (marketing, strategy, operations, and finances). --- We set the tone by making inclusion an agenda item. It’s the culture. Thus, it becomes a standard. --- We hold ourselves accountable to be inclusive as a collective. So, we're open to having character-building talks. These are just a few examples of what it means to create inclusive cultures. What once seemed impossible begins to be possible! Wow, it gets good at this point.
