Ever wondered why Swift introduced the 'some' and 'any' keywords and what problems they tackle? 🤔 Understanding the reasons behind these features is key to mastering the language! I highly recommend diving into a comprehensive document that explores the problem statement and clarifies the distinction between opaque types and existential types. Happy reading 🚀 https://lnkd.in/dqNsJKQ3

Day 191 - I am an IT Project Manager. However, I don’t understand or know IT. I cannot program a computer and I can’t even spell DBA. I’m the least qualified IT professional I know. Heaven knows how I managed to last this long in this particular field of work. As a result, I’ve developed a long-standing habit of looking up every new IT term that I hear in an effort to keep up. It’s futile really, as I always immediately forget. But I have always made an effort—until yesterday. I was in a meeting and a new (to me) term was floated by one of the team, a technical word I’d never heard. So I grabbed my pen and went to write the term in my notes, to look up later back at my desk. But then my pen stopped. The tip hung there above the paper. I said the word silently one last time in my mind and then I let it go, not knowing what the technical word meant. Suddenly, I didn’t care. The word was like medical jargon a doctor might say that means nothing to me. And I had no interest in finding out. This was a strange and new experience. IT has never interested me. Never. Not once. I simply don’t care how computers or networks work. The science part is interesting, but not the IT. I never cared about any of those hundreds of words and phrases I’d looked up in the past and then promptly forgot during the long course of my career. I only ever tried to learn them because I thought I needed to as part of my job. But soon, that illusion will be gone. And the sudden realization of this fact is what happened in the meeting yesterday when I put my pen down. I no longer need to even pretend to try to care about IT. And so now I acknowledge that no longer care, and never did. And if that particular technical word from yesterday comes up again during the course of my current, last, project, then I’ll simply wear my most honest dumb face and fess up my ignorance in front of the team, and maybe someone will explain it to me, just like they’ve always had to do. #GoingAlone #Reason Kurt Bell is a passionate explorer, dedicated family man, and author of books such as "Going Alone" and "No More Looking Out For Number One."
