Acidia is an abandoned district, a pool of corrosive acid, rushing the decay of the remaining structures. It was once a thriving hub, but now it stands as a reminder of the cost of uncontrolled ambition.

I'm glad to announce the publication of the technical report "Topsoil Deficits in Site Rehabilitation Accelerated Transformation of Spoils to Functional Soils," now available on the Australian Coal Association Research Program website (link below). This report synthesizes the findings from both mine and Samadhi Gunathunga PhDs concerning the topsoil deficit issue in coal mines across central Queensland. It offers valuable insights into alternative techniques for addressing this challenge, particularly the use of microbial inoculants to accelerate the pedogenic process on coal mine waste. https://lnkd.in/geyiEhJJ

🏗 Alkaline-activated treatment of Bringelly shale – mitigating damage to infrastructure caused by expansive soils 💡 EIC Activities is collaborating with Western Sydney University in conjunction with the Australian Research Council and industry partners. This initiative is investigating an alkali activator that could potentially be used as an agent for stabilising expansive residual soil derived from Bringelly shale. Expansive soils damage infrastructure in a number of ways including: 🔺cracks may develop on pavements laid over expansive soils 🔺retaining walls may bulge as the soil expands 🔺cracking in brick walls 🔺foundation damage in structures. The research is looking to develop a low carbon alternative to the use of lime or cement and should provide a significant increase in strength and stiffness, as well as a reduction in the shrink-swell behaviour. I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the team exploring New Zealand's phosphate sources and there potential viability. As of 2021, New Zealand ranked as the ninth largest importer of phosphate, emphasizing its critical role in our primary production systems. The exploration of domestic sources is important to consider when looking at ensuring a sustainable and reliable supply chain into the future. This report highlights the considerable potential of our national phosphate sources, offering support to our economy, security of supply and positive environmental outcomes. Ligno enhances the soil's ability to absorb more nutrients by bonding metal ions, thus aiding plant growth. The otherwise disastrous after-effects of major construction activities on the environment have now been possible to change since Ligno-based soil is greatly conducive to plant growth and instils greenery with improved soil traits. #BioSolutions by #GautamZenUK #EmpoweredByBiomass #BioBinder #Ligno #SoilPower #LowCarbon #BioMaterials #SoilStabilization #DustControl #TopSoil #Soil #SoilHealth #LCRIG #HealthandSafety #HealthyLiving

Potassium Chloride, a vital component in the production of fertilizers, is extracted from the arid landscape surrounding Moab, Utah. The process involves the evaporation of water from ponds, revealing a stunning array of colors in the Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. This captivating sight showcases the intricate relationship between nature and industry, highlighting the beauty and complexity of resource extraction. The unique geological features of the region contribute to the efficiency and sustainability of this extraction process, making it a noteworthy example of harmonizing human activities with the environment. #PotassiumExtraction #ResourceManagement

Jurgen Buhl from Cornelsen Group in #Germany presented recent data on the robustness of the #RemBind sorbent for stabilizing #PFAS in soil at the #Battelle #2024ChlorinatedConference. The study stress tested the robustness of the #sorbent under a wide range of conditions including freeze/thaw and wet/dry cycles, accelerated solvent extraction, and activated bio sludge (microbial stress). The data showed that #RemBind is very robust under stress. Termite mounds in Namaqualand, South Africa, are at least 34,000 years old, according to a recent study. Further research is needed to understand how much carbon is stored in these termite mounds and how fast it is accumulating. https://lnkd.in/eTbksWUe

🌿 How to Clear Pond Algae Organically in 2 Weeks! 🌊 In this video, we demonstrate how Ultra-Archaea goes beyond oil spills and contaminated sites—it’s also an effective solution for managing algae in ponds. By applying Ultra-Archaea, naturally occurring microbes get to work, breaking down organic matter and helping to clear algae, all while maintaining the balance of your water ecosystem. In each gram of archaea, there are 5 billion microbes with their only food source being hydrocarbons. In a matter of 20 minutes those billions will turn into trillions making it the most efficient remediation product out there!
