Building a great company comes down to two things: Hiring great people, and keeping them. But attracting talent and keeping it are two different things. Sure, you can put a sandwich under a box held up by a stick with a string tied to it, but how do you make sure a raccoon/graphic designer doesn't just escape the box? One solution is a giant rock, or brick that you found somewhere, on top of the box. And that's retention in the 21st century. My dad opened and ran a small medical practice for 30+ years and only fired one person (for stealing). I asked him “how only one person?!” Answer: “I hire people carefully. And then I treat them well.”

I always love the suggestions you post, but sometimes feel you miss obvious "hacks" like using heavy bags of garbage or street junk. Honestly, anything heavy.
