Surely optimization tools have been around for many years but with modern technologies, a leap forward can be made. Take the typical workflow: ⏺ initial concept(s) ⏺ analysis and tests (CFD, FEM, experiments) ⏺ new concepts ⏺repeat Now add in between the power of #GenerativeDesign for #TopologyOptimization based on the physics of interest (fluid dynamics, heat transfer) using tools like ToffeeX. ▶ Result: a considerable efficiency boost of the entire design workflow and consequent time and cost saving! To give you an example, check out the optimization of an S-shaped pipe below (topological optimization done with ToffeeX, final CFD simulations with #OpenFOAM). ⏩ Detailed blog post on my website: https://lnkd.in/dJarjkpK And feel free to contact me directly if you are interested and would like to discuss further! #Engineering #DesignInnovation #TopologyOptimization #GenerativeDesign #FluidDynamics #Innovation #Consultancy #CFD
Interesting! How is the optimization problem set up here? Minimum pressure loss or equal volume flux for each outlet? Would it be possible to share the boundary conditions and the design space as step or stl?
What is the model for the fluid here? I love those vortex!
I guess you weren't optimising for ease of manufacturing and, or, cost.
Interesting, but unfortunately, it is not manufacturable. 😊
Good to know!
Very helpful!
Thanks for sharing
Interesting!

3moNice! Did you give complete freedom to modify the geometry to the optimizer or you set some limitations? In real applications, where components like this must be produced, I think that limitations are fundamental to assure that geometries can be machined or more generally produced.
