Does a doctor's background during virtual visits matter? It turns out it might matter more than you may think. New research from JAMA reveals that patients have strong preferences when it comes to their doctor's surroundings during telehealth visits. These details could even impact how they perceive their doctor's professionalism and care. Many thought telemed would be a panacea. And certainly, during the pandemic it made certain simple types of care available to those who were housebound. But the reality is that many (most) people want to actually see their doctors in person. And, for those who are older and technology challenged telemed was never a real alternative. The recent numbers on the decline in the use of telemed bear this out. That's why Non-Emergency Medical Transportation is such a critical service. Especially for those on Medicare and Medicaid. #MediDrive #TheRoadToBetterHealth
📉 The Decline of Telehealth and the Rising Importance of NEMT 🚗 In the wake of the pandemic, telehealth emerged as a critical tool, allowing patients to connect with healthcare providers from the safety of their homes. However, as we transition into a new phase of healthcare delivery, we're observing a notable decline in the utilization of telehealth services. Several factors contribute to this trend: 1. Telehealth Fatigue: Prolonged reliance on virtual consultations has led to a desire for in-person interactions. 2. Technical Barriers: Not all patients have access to the necessary technology or reliable internet connections. 3. Quality of Care: Some conditions and treatments simply require hands-on care that telehealth cannot provide. At MediDrive, we’ve seen that as telehealth usage declines, the spotlight is shifting towards Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) services. Here's why NEMT is becoming increasingly vital: 1. Accessibility: NEMT ensures that patients without personal transportation or those unable to drive due to medical conditions can still attend their appointments. 2. Reduced No-Show Rates: Reliable transportation reduces missed appointments, ensuring continuous care and better health outcomes. 3. Equity in Healthcare: NEMT plays a crucial role in bridging the gap for underserved communities, ensuring everyone has access to necessary healthcare services. Investing in robust NEMT infrastructure is essential for addressing the current gaps in our healthcare system. As we move forward, it's critical to recognize the importance of comprehensive patient support, from virtual consultations to reliable transportation. Let's continue to innovate and adapt to meet the evolving needs of our healthcare landscape. 🚀 #Healthcare #Telehealth #NEMT #PatientCare #HealthcareInnovation #MediDrive

The Pandemic significantly accelerated the already existing trend of certain medical visits shifting to telehealth and virtual care models, and with the Pandemic came various flexibilities and waivers to allow providers to offer and bill for those services. While some of those waivers have ended and a number more are currently set to expire on January 1, 2025, consumer desire for telehealth doesn't seem to be going anywhere - I know that my own last two sick visits have been virtual visits, and they were VASTLY better consumer experiences compared to sitting in an urgent care clinic waiting room (although anyone sitting outside my office who saw me trying to get my cell phone into my mouth so the NP could see my throat might have a different opinion)! Today's CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) HI2 blog discusses some of these upcoming impacts, and what providers need to be considering now in order to maintain their care delivery models.

Many in the healthcare space thought that telemedicine would be the future and solve access issues for all kinds of patients. During the pandemic telemed certainly saw strong growth. But post-pandemic, we've seen that telemedicine has its place, but many people still prefer to see there doctors in person. Take a look at this post on the MediDrive corporate page to see what some of the 'drivers' behind these trends are. #Healthcare #Telehealth #NEMT #PatientCare #HealthcareInnovation #MediDrive
