How can improvement approaches support the current ambition for change? 💡 The 10-year plan for the NHS is scheduled to launch in spring. Q has been invited to draw on the expertise and experience within our community to explore the role improvement methods can play in the three ‘big shifts’ that the Government want to see: - from hospital to community - from sickness to prevention - from analogue to digital On 21 November, our workshop 'Improvement’s role in delivering the 10-year plan in England' will consider the broader role that improvement approaches and capabilities need to play in delivering the plan at all levels of the system. We’ll hear from Paul Corrigan, a senior advisor within the Department of Health and Social Care who is working closely with Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, to shape the plan. The workshop is already fully booked, but we’ll be sharing insight gathered from the workshop more widely – so stay tuned. https://brnw.ch/21wOMFh

🌟 Supporting Early Intervention with Jstep The NHS is overwhelmed right now, and early intervention is more important than ever. Next week, I’ll be meeting with Public Health NHS to discuss how Jstep CIC can step in to support those who’ve experienced a fall at home. 💡 Why early intervention matters: When someone has a fall and ends up in hospital, it’s crucial to address why it happened and take steps to rebuild their confidence, strength, and mobility—so they can safely return home and avoid future falls. 💪 The impact so far: Jstep has already helped over 40 clients avoid going back into hospital after a fall, proving that tailored exercise programs can make a real difference in: ✅ Reducing falls ✅ Rebuilding confidence ✅ Improving overall well-being This is just the start of how we can make a lasting impact on our community. I’ll keep you updated on the meeting and the steps we take to support even more people. Let’s work together to make health and mobility accessible for everyone.

This summer, despite having a family doctor, my daughter was misdiagnosed and endured days of suffering, including a grueling 7-hour wait at a local hospital emergency room. We even had to fight for an armchair so she could sit on my lap while battling through the pain. Thankfully, she’s one of the lucky ones; we were able to get her to Sick Kids, and she is now in full remission. The current crisis in healthcare affects us all. It’s time to take action and advocate for change. Please visit stopthehealthcrisis.ca to learn more. #HealthcareCrisis #Advocacy #HealthForAll

Busy day of committee meetings today - our Sue Ryder Health and Social Care Committee where we will be discussing our new ecosystem for palliative and end of life care, and then attending my first meeting in Parliament this afternoon for the Commission on the same subject. Our new ecosystem for palliative and end of life care calls for a focus on 5 key system shifts which are aimed at giving people the support they need, whilst improving system efficiency and tackling inequality 1. Moving care into the community - meeting people’s wishes to die at home and providing care that is responsive and proactive 2. Providing specialist care in dedicated hospices for people at the end of their life or those living with complexity and life limiting conditions - increasingly expanding service so they can reach people earlier 3. Supporting people with the right care in a hospital setting with Sue Ryder Alongside wards directly assisting people in an acute setting with the same level of care afforded by specialist palliative care in the community 4. Enabling people to plan more effectively for their death in pursuit of improved outcomes through the provision of information, knowledge and services that enable better awareness and engagement on death and dying 5. Enabling health care professionals to be trained in a palliative and end of life care to grow understanding and enable wider provision of support to people
