SUMC created the National Shared Mobility Summit a decade ago in response to new shared mobility modes and the growing shared mobility industry. The mobility landscape has evolved since then. In response, we consider it our responsibility to reimagine and adapt how we convene. We bring shared mobility practitioners and researchers together to make our communities more equitable, sustainable, and accessible. So, we are reimagining the best way to convene changemakers. How can we give you better value as travel budgets get tighter? How can we make the experience more meaningful, relevant, and accessible? Help us reimagine how we convene the shared mobility sector with this five-minute survey to understand the value that current conferences bring you and the biggest barriers you face.
A lot has changed in the mobility industry and mobility conference space since SUMC launched our annual National Shared Mobility Summit. That’s why we’re reimagining our annual Summit–to ensure our events and convenings are as valuable as the first time we brought the sector together. This involves surveying our community to gather insights on the current value, missing elements, and pain points of large events. We appreciate you taking this five-minute survey so we can understand the value that current conferences bring you and the biggest barriers you face. Your feedback will help inform future SUMC convenings. Take the survey: https://ow.ly/Gly250RezO4

AndNowWhat and the Equinox Collective attended last year’s r3.0 conference in Amsterdam: it was mind blowing! Unfortunately for us, this year’s r3.0 (Redesign for Resilience and Regeneration) conference is online only. The theme — Tipping points on tipping points - Building necessary collapse resilience — is super-relevant in the face of the ongoing collapse of human and ecological systems. As challenging and urgent as its content may be, it also holds invigorating calls and potentials to act. As this year’s theme is so close to the core of our respective callings / charters, we will most certainly be joining them on September 10/11 — though we wished we could be with others. Here’s WHY we feel the need to gather: Times are urgent, let us slow down Dr. Bayo Akomolafe If you are willing to really let the implications of collapse sink in—and to ponder what it would take to properly integrate what you might learn into your life, work and communities—then you will probably benefit from sharing your experiences and insights with supportive others. So here’s WHAT WE PROPOSE: Our team will generously host a limited number of registered conference participants. We bring our experience and skills to frame the r3.0 content we watch, make sense of it, consider the implications, and process it together in a beautiful setting. We aim to connect similarly-concerned, like-minded people from multiple walks of life. We will explore what is ours to do, what we might be able to do together that we cannot do alone, and suggest some design steps and network-weaving that we could choose to take together that will be of benefit to everyone in our own (bio)region. Does this resonate with you? Click on the link in the first comment to see the details and reserve your place: Be sure to do it swiftly, because the number of participants is limited. #collapseawareness #collapseacceptance #collapsepreparedness

🍁 October is here and we’re looking ahead to our event of the year, Isle Connect, happening October 23-24 in Liverpool! 💧 🎨 This is where invited guests and tech innovators get creative in the same space, exploring ideas and tackling some of the water industry’s biggest challenges. We’re not shying away from tricky topics and will be exploring critical themes like water quality, water resources, pollution and circularity. 🪂 We’re diving into these issues from every angle, and have designed Isle Connect to be a safe space to have open and candid conversations on topics that pose significant challenges to the water sector across the UK, Europe and globally. Get ready for insights from industry leaders: Piers Clark and Benjamin Tam will break down the latest technology and trends, with our water experts on hand. Day 2 will feature innovators showcasing the latest in cutting-edge water tech that’s shaping the future. 🌊 ✨But Isle Connect isn’t just about keynotes. At Isle we like to flex our creative muscles: did you know that facilitation is one of our specialities? We’re particularly looking forward to a thought-provoking session led by Oliver Raud, Principal Consultant at Isle. Oli will lead an interactive session designed to bring together diverse perspectives and help us immerse ourselves in creative solutions. He’ll be inviting participants to explore utopian and dystopian visions for the water industry, reimagining the way we provide water and wastewater services to meet the needs of the planet, our customers and broader society. 💡 In the lead up to the event, we’d love to hear from YOU, whether or not you’ll be attending. Over the next few posts, we’ll be asking questions to get your views flowing. Let’s start with this: 🌿🌪️ What do you think utopia or dystopia would look like in the water sector? Drop in five words that spring to mind for either — or both! ⬇️
