HR Leaders - how are you thinking about your company's DEIB goals? We know that talent in the US wants to work for a company that values DEIB. This benefits all of us because creating an environment where a diverse workforce thrives means that employees will try to expand their ways of thinking and be willing to take meaningful risks. But how do you get started? At Guild, we have four pillars of our DEIB goals: workforce, workplace, marketplace, and community. Malaika Marable Serrano, PhD our VP for DEIB, emphasizes “workplace” as a starting point: “I firmly believe in ‘taking care of home’ first, and that's why we pour so much love and resources into building out a best-in-class ERG program and this year, launched and scaled a BIPOC early-mid career program. Companies need to do both - workplace and workforce, but if they don't create spaces of inclusion and belonging at home, this can negatively impact employee experience and lead to higher attrition - not just for historically marginalized groups but for ALL employees.”

At the annual UHR Awards - the winners were announced this morning - our top prize is the Award for Exceptional HR, which is our 'Team of the Year' category. Congratulations to Jane Embley Lianne Hurford and colleagues at Northumbria University. Northumbria has undergone a significant cultural transformation, prioritising engagement and the intentional efforts of leaders and colleagues. Over 100 volunteers collaboratively developed the new Values and Behaviours Framework, addressing cultural strengths, areas for improvement, and future suggestions. The university has witnessed substantial momentum in the adoption of these values, influencing decision-making and everyday practices. For instance performance management processes now encourage reflection on demonstrating values and behaviours, complemented by a new inhouse 360-degree feedback tool. Values and behaviours have been embedded into recruitment, induction, and flexible working policies, as further examples. https://lnkd.in/ea52C4wX
