At Tusass A/S we are finalizing our strategy towards 2024, with focus and efforts on delivering on our promises of this strategy period, where we have: - Launched FWA over 5G with our strategic partner Ericsson - Brought flatrate to all of Greenland - Significantly increased the share of households connected to the internet - Implemented efficiency measures to continously deliver strong financial results and dividends - Maintained a strong focus on social responsibilty in society, eg. by facilitating 90+ Coding Class sessions for schools, to promote technical skills and interest in the future workforce In parallel we are also turning our focus and attention towards the coming strategy period from 2025 and onwards. We are currently analyzing a series of potential measures and initiatives, but some focus areas are already known: - An increased focus on delivering on our customers expectations, especially in the satellite zone and enterprise domain (you can read more here on what we have just announced today in this regard: https://lnkd.in/eZB5DB-8) - Ensuring Greenlandic critical infrastructure, an effort that goes across seacables, satellites and datacentre - Decommissioning legacy technology such as the copper network, and providing modern products based on either fiber or FWA over 5G These and more were topics discussed during an interview with Sermitsiaq: https://lnkd.in/evUq4G-4

The European Commission has published in the Official Journal of the European Union the Decision on setting up the European Digital Infrastructure Consortium for Networked Local Digital Twins towards the CitiVERSE (LDT CitiVERSE EDIC) at https://lnkd.in/d8xtSiz3. During last months the working group that I have been honoured to chair representing Smart City València , has worked hard and achieved this milestone successfully. EDIC are the new type of multy-country projects in the frame of the Digital Decade Programme. The piece of news (in Spanish) that follows describes some aspects of this achievement. #smartcities #digitaltwins #edic #citiverse #valencia https://lnkd.in/dHDs8p4v

Excellent. Like the straight statement. Even making Delhi metro free and converting all 2 wheelers to electric is not a solution.
Very pleased to share my short piece urging governments to focus on public transportation and dealing with it comprehensively. Published in The Mint today. The Infravision Foundation

📊 Why is TCO Still Leading Open RAN Discussions? 🚀 Back once more, and more pressing than ever—Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) takes the spotlight in the Open RAN sector. It's not surprising, given shrinking capex budgets and tightening margins, that 53% are focused on TCO models. 🤔💡 Financial prudence is key, with raw data scarce on cost benefits of disaggregated networks. Yet, the quest for sustainable economics remains as fierce as network needs grow. Operators are raring for real-world evidence of Open RAN's value, and it's clear—53% can't all be wrong. More than ever, actionable insights from 'More field trials and trials to assess Open RAN at scale' are essential, backed by 52% of industry pros. 🔬📈 And let's not forget the 45% rallying for 'Operator commitment to wider commercial rollouts'. Growth and experience are paramount, and North American operators are stepping up, but the industry is hungry for wider adoption. Then, there's the RIC platform—44% believe in focusing on its development. It's a critical next step, even if interest in xApps and rApps developer ecosystems is slightly lower at 34%. The narrative is clear: build the foundations before you decorate the house. 🏗️📲 Lastly, the push for 'Acceleration of specifications and standards alignment' resonates with 27%, suggesting a satisfaction with present achievements or a shift in focus to more pressing matters. #OpenRAN #TelecomInnovation #NetworkEconomics 🌐🔧📶

Interesting interview in Fierce Telecom from Zac Cronauer re: open access networks and Tillman's strategy. I noted the part where Zac said that technology helps technicians learning faster: that is what we do for ISPs and other telecom players here at Praxedo North America! If you'd like to know how, please get in touch 😉

Unpopular Opinion: Open RAN Should Champion Collaboration Over Competition Diving into the Open RAN discussion feels like déjà vu from my system integration days, where the mix of tech, ambition, and real-world economics often collided. It's like setting up a puzzle where each piece is crucial, yet they don’t always fit easily together. The initial idea that smaller vendors might duke it out with the big guns on the same turf always seemed a stretch and inconducive. Do we really solve any Telco issues by having 100 Radio vendors instead of 5? Sounds like European hypercompetitive regulation that now has more than 180 Telcos across the continent, most struggling to keep investment afloat. Isn't the bigger picture about finding smarter ways to work together and create more interesting ecosystems? System integration is the big elephant in the room: The cost and complexity of knitting tech across countless sites is no joke. It's why large vendors often ended up roll out services on razor-thin margins, a reality many don't see. This makes me wonder if we've been focusing too much on the tech side and not enough on the economics from the get-go. Maybe there's a middle ground where smaller players shine by zeroing in on specific tech layers, leaving the heavy lifting to those with broader shoulders. The Open RAN convo is more than tech; it's about reshaping how we collaborate. It’s about not repeating the same old patterns and expecting different results. And hey, isn’t that what innovation is all about? Interesting column from Iain Morris
