I promise I'm not being cringe by explaining the joke, but it perfectly illustrates what PR is all about. Simply put, reputation is how others perceive you, and PR is the art of shaping that perception. While the squirrel, with its charming and cute demeanour, seems to have had some top-notch PR work done over the years, the rat—my archenemy—often gets a rather less favourable reputation i.e it's the most disgusting rodent alive. And that’s what good PR can do for you! #publicrelations #reputation

Director of PR & Comms at Storyblok. 20+ years of driving millions of customers through earned media.
This post made me so happy. PR pros LOVE to overcomplicate pitching. (🙋♂️ Guilty!) We’re convinced there’s a perfect subject line formula, pitch length, format, time to pitch, personalization method, etc. But then you see this and you don’t know whether to laugh or cry. (I did a little of both.) How many times do journalists have to tell us that they want short pitches that get straight to the point before we believe them? It’s not a crime to send an email with just a few sentences that simply says what the story is and what you’re offering. We feel like it can’t really be that easy. But oftentimes it is. Save the details for the conversation. For some reason, it takes more guts to send a short email instead of a long one. So be determined to be gutsy and pitch like this more often.
Just sharing the best PR pitch I’ve had in ages: - clear subject with no caps - short - directly addressed to me and relevant to my subject area/programme - clear pitch in one sentence - clear about what is being offered. - a direct contact number. More of this please!

Strategy & Storytelling for Social Good: I help social impact orgs be seen, attract more supporters & further their cause so they can do more good in the world.
In prepping a nervous client to be interviewed by a big deal media outlet for a positive news story this week, I pulled out this gem of a graphic. This is great PR advice and great life advice. What gutsy thing are you doing this week? #storytelling #publicrelations #feelthefearanddoitanyway

PR friends, please take note of this BBC reporter’s post. Do not send irrelevant mass email pitches to reporters via PR software programs. I have a friend who is a longtime anchor at CNBC who receives hundreds of email pitches a day and reads NONE of them because 98% are junk. Don’t clog media inboxes for those who: — take time to research the reporter and read/ watch their coverage to send a tailored pitch. — counsel their companies/clients on what is newsworthy and what is not. — send a succinct pitch with a clear headline that offers a unique story, adds value, is timely and offers a source with unique expertise or opinions.

If you've been in the PR industry for more than a minute, it's likely been drilled into you that the "spray & pray" method of PR is no good, very bad, evil, never do it! In this issue of Cherry on Top, the fabulous Emilie Gerber is here to turn that narrative around, and stake a claim firmly in the camp of "spray & pray is the future of PR." There, we said it! PR pros—read it & weigh in! Would love to hear from you 👇 https://lnkd.in/gAgMigJ9

“This is the way we’ve always done it,” is not good PR advice. The real PR advice you need to heed is always be learning. Experiment with new ideas. Take a course on a subject. Read a journal. Find out what is new. Practice will make you better, and that is the goal. #completepr #yeahthatgreenville #prtips

📄 Listen, press releases have their place in an overall PR strategy, BUT: I’d argue that 80%+ of ‘em could be a quickie blog or a LinkedIn post. 🫤 But if cranking out press releases is your primary “PR tool” you just can’t help yourself, right? 🤷♂️ When all you have is a hammer… *everything looks like a nail*. 🔨 It’s time to be more selective. Reporters damn sure are. This is the way ✊ #publicrelations #pragency

Media autonomy is healthy for consistent earned media.
Happy Friday to everyone *except* people who think PR pros have editorial control over all publications 🙄 And no, they *didn’t include a link* to your website in the story. And you know what? We’re gonna let it ride 😮 This is the way ✊ #publicrelations
