This screenshot is an example of what it's like to watch open captioned movies and videos. It shows a basketball game in action with the score on the bottom and the news ticker below the score. Captions appear in all caps with yellow text. They have no background color for contrast. Although you can read the captions here, I could not read half of them while it was live. This is a snapshot of one caption. Many open captions tend to have yellow or white text with no background. With the color changing behind the captions, it creates a tiresome viewing experience. Imagine watching these captions for two hours in a movie. This is exactly what happened when I went to an open captioned movie. I prefer to watch movies at home because I have more control over the captions. On top of this, I can stop the movie anytime for a break and stand up without bugging anyone. Several disability-related film festivals use the open caption format with yellow or white text and no background. Remember The Telephone Game? You remember how children would play a game where they would whisper something in the ear of one person and she/he would pass it on, and the whispers would continue, and so would the message. Then eventually they compare the first and the last message to see if it has changed. Most of the time it wasn't ever the same. No, that's a play version of it. Would you like to understand the more realistic portrayal of this game? Hear me out! The Client-Agencies-Production house- That's the real playfield. For any project, whether a television commercial, a brand AV, digital video, et al. everything is fine till the production is over. Once in post-production and you as the production house have shared the first version of the deliverable, that is when the real play starts. The client gives feedback to the agency, and the agency passes it on to the production house (often with their own creative alterations). This cycle goes on until we don't remember what the original brief was. This loop of endless 'minor feedback' has ended many dreams! Then as we do it in the Telephone Game, we should do the same in this case as well where we compare the first and the last messages. The only disadvantage here is that as a production house, you are at the lower side of the funnel, pressure will be more on you. And in the end, just like in the game, here too, everyone thinks of it as a funny moment and laughs. Episode 3 of 'The Acolyte' had me reminiscing about the indie film 'The Pretty One'. Similarly, our twinning effects had Zoe Kazan play both Laurel and Audrey. I knew there were going to be a lot of straight forward split-screens, i.e. this half is one person and we'll cut down the middle. Though I didn't want to show our hand so easily, so I incorporated tricks to make it more convincing. Where can we overlap them? Where can we hide the seam? Can we put the extras in different spots? Can we add another layer of something overtop? While we likely had less than the coffee budget of 'The Acolyte', I'm still very impressed with the compositions and twinning gags we cooked up. It’s time for a casting call! But not one we wanted to have to do. In our Megaman Battle Network fan dub series, A stand out in the voice cast was Tuyền Phạm, who did the voice for all the Mr Progs in the game for our dub. Mr. Prog is the digital body of computer programs running around on the internet or other cyberspace in the Battle Network games. They are cute and sort of look like bunnies if you squint your eyes. The vision I had for their voice was fairly simple, and when Tuyen joined our voice team, I knew right away she was perfect for the role, with her higher pitched voice and Vietnamese accent really adding to how the Progs sound. She was perfect. However… Tuyen has vanished without a trace and we don’t know what happened to her. She has been missing from online for over 11 months now. Can’t get in touch with her on Linked In, Discord, or Email. We are worried about her. She was perfect for the role of Mr. Prog… but the show must go on. When it came time to do Part 2 of the Battle Network dub, we had to recast her with a temporary voice actress. Thankfully the lovely Japanese voice actress Akari Una stepped up and played Mr. Prog in part 2 That said, we still need someone who can do a voice for Mr. Prog similar or nearly the same as how Tuyen Pham sounded in the role.  We are starting work on Battle Network with Voice Acting Part 3 now, and need a suitable recast for Mr. Prog! If Tuyen ever returns and is okay, she of course will have the role given back to her if she wants it. But we need someone to fill those shoes, either till she returns, or continued if she doesn't. This is an unpaid role currently, must stress that. Our voice team does work for the channel on a volunteer basis at this time. But once we get monetized and start bringing in money, the team will start to get portions of that money. So this is unpaid for now, with the potential of being a paid role down the road. Please watch this video for examples of how Mr. Prog sounded with Tuyen voicing them. They are computer programs, but capable of showing emotion, fighting back, being scared or damaged, happy, or angry. Even fierce in later games.  https://lnkd.in/e7m9RH7B Mr. Prog appears in every game of the Battle Network series, which is all 6 of the main line games and several of the spin offs. So this is a role that you will get to voice for a long time, unless Tuyen returns and is able to reprise it. That said, if she does return, we would still need a back up VA for the part for if she goes missing again or has to take some time off. So if you get the part now, and Tuyen does return in the future, you can be the back up VA for the Progs. Or in some cases voice different versions of them if the opportunity arises. What we are looking for is someone with an asian accent, or can fake a good asian accent, talk with a high pitched voice and like a robot.
