Back from Holidays and starting with some fun topics! 😁 Google has announced that it will start trail runs with Chrome not accepting 3rd party Cookies (hence the tasty grab-your-attention picture). Since people are not maybe aware here is a brief exmplenation of what 3rd party cookies are 🍪 : Whenever You enter a site that would store Your data - cookies are created by the browser on Your machine. 1st party cookies will do it to "remember" a user on their side - for example it can store Your login so You don't have to fill it in each time. 3rd partie cookies are similiar but are used by various sites. 💾 For example You go to an online shop and browse toys for Your kids like on Christmas. The shop will then create and store cookies on Your machine. Few weeks later Christmas rush is over but You still see advertises for toys on Your favourite news site. This is when the browser is reading the cookies from 3rd parties. 👀 Now imagine Your Chrome browser (65% market coverage according to Google) will just refuse to use those 3rd party ones. It's just a trial for now but this might become a market standard in the coming months. This can have a huge impact on online marketing approaches but it's something to consider by everybody working with web applications. The IT industry is as always changing in interesting ways. #itandsoftware #ittechnology ... And that's the way the cookie crumbles... (bonus point if You get this reference 😉 )
