What's your favorite building in NYC? One of mine played an interesting role in the history of zoning in New York. The 38-story Equitable Building was the largest office building in the world when it opened in 1915. The bulkiness of the building inspired the 1916 zoning ordinance, which introduced new setback requirements. The design of subsequent skyscrapers like the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building are the result of that ordinance. #zoning #architecture #realestate #commercialrealestate #nyc

So many choices - depends on frame of mind. GCT in morning with light creating shadows on floor truly spectacular.

and it is only fitting that City Planning is located in the building that spawned the modern (well what passes for modern) zoning resolution. @Equitable Building

Hard to chose but I think I'd go Flatiron, given its uniqueness.

GCT. I have vivid recollections from childhood of what it had become pre-restoration and I'm still impressed every time I'm there.

The Equitable Building's impact on NYC zoning is fascinating. How do you think modern zoning laws continue to shape the skyline of New York City today, Tom Corsillo?

There are many to mention but UN headquarters is my favorite.

Fascinating! I dig the Equitable building. Also love City Hall and the Municipal Building. Especially the statue atop the Municipal Building.
