Acting cats, fake nightclubs, mid 2000s electro, there was something for everyone. #shortfilm #narrative #filmmaking #director #brotherfilm

Are you a film enthusiast? Do you know the difference between art and commercial films? The goal of any "commercial film" is to gain popularity, while "art film" gives stress on the portrayal of reality. It's an age-old debate that has slowly evolved into the concept of "Meaningful Cinema." Growing up, my family always supported art films over commercial ones. Both types of filmmaking require money, and filmmakers of both types want an average return of around 6-10% over around 2 years. However, the basic difference between the two is the focus on reality versus popularity. Let's keep the art vs. commercial debate alive and continue to appreciate "meaningful cinema." What's your take on this? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Congratulations to the Space Media Production Team! The first short film, 'Chakkiwala (The Flour Mill Man),' which has been honored with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke International Film Festival Award. Glad to have met and connected with Niriksha Sanil the producer who believed in this vision; Ajay Kakade whose pen and direction brought the story to life; and Sai, whose cinematography captured the essence of this tale beautifully. Your dedication and craftsmanship have not only contributed to the film's success but have also brought to simple life a narrative that resonates with the common man in India. Essence of 'Chakkiwala': 'Chakkiwala (The Flour Mill Man)' is more than just a film; it's a reflection of the simple yet profound lives that weave the fabric of our society. In the midst of the pandemic's upheaval, we may have overlooked the struggles and insights of the everyday person. This film takes us through a day in the life of a local flour mill man, grappling with his thoughts on the quality of life and the products he manufactures in today’s era of competitive consumerism. It's about the moment of realization, where one's overthinking is interrupted by the innocent perspective of poor children who see the world without the labels and brands that adults often get caught up in. 'Chakkiwala' encourages us to embrace those lessons, maintain positivity, and appreciate the simple things in life. In the dance of the hand grinder, as it spins and grinds, there is a profound metaphor for life and belief. At the heart of the grinder, the wheat remains untouched, shielded by its position at the center, while the grains at the periphery face the unrelenting crush of the millstones. This very mechanism is akin to the human spirit and self-belief. The individual who positions themselves at the 'center', with firm conviction and self-assurance, like the wheat in the heart of the grinder, remains protected. They are like the handle of the wheat grinder, which controls the motion but doesn't succumb to the grinding process itself. Conversely, those who find themselves on the 'edges', without a strong sense of self or belief, are like the grains on the periphery, more susceptible to being overwhelmed and ground down by life's relentless challenges. The lesson here is clear: hold onto your core beliefs and values tightly, just as one would firmly grip the central handle of the wheat grinder. By doing so, you can maintain your integrity and inner strength, no matter how life's millstones may turn. "True impact lies in the essence, not the scale; great need not be grand, for even the smallest stones can create vast ripples." Watch this award-winning short film and see the beauty of simplicity and the power of perspective: [Link to the movie] https://lnkd.in/gA5VJHVj #Chakkiwala #LifeLessons #IndianCinema #DadaSahebPhalkeAward

When it comes to whistleblower cinema, whether the picture would be documentary or narrative, the filmmaker must devise a Treatment for the project. The Treatment is a detailed summary of a film. It may include descriptions of the theme, tone, characters, and plot. This is also relevant to documentary filmmaking when describing the overall message of the picture. Let the world hear the stories that need to be told. 🌟✊ Join the movement at the Whistleblower Summit and Film Festival! 🎥 #FilmFestival #Whistleblowers #WhistleblowerSummitAndFilmFestival #FilmmakerFacts #Documentaries #FeatureFilms #Treatment #FilmTreatment

Great description at the end of the article as to why it is good to employ a colourist from pre-production onwards. #colourgrading #filmmaking #filmproduction #cinematography
“When I first read it, I was so excited about how little dialogue is in the film. It’s all voiceover. Normally, when you shoot a scene in a narrative film, you’re shooting actors predominantly talking to each other. And this film…on the set it was quite a quiet place. Which is really, really interesting. And it changes the dynamic enormously.” Erik Messerschmidt on his experience shooting David Fincher’s ‘The Killer’. Read the full interview here:
