📌 What are your thoughts on the following? I have a client completing an online job application on the company's website, and they were requesting the following. ● The compensation history for each position ● The graduation dates of education ● Upload a current headshot ----------------------- ✅ Your salary history shouldn't dictate your worth in the current market, new education, new successes, new skills, and perhaps a relocation. ✅ How relevant is it, and they seek 6+ years of experience? ✅ Yes, they can view his LinkedIn profile, but I haven't seen an application asking for a headshot. WHY?

The headshot is confusing to me. Some companies have actually removed names and identifying information from resumes so as to eliminate unconscious bias. Recruiters would only be able to select candidates based solely on their job experience and wouldn't be able to make assumptions of gender or race. Quite an interesting concept! I wonder what they are trying to drive at by REQUIRING a headshot....

Yikes, this seems to be going against many of the anti-discrimination/trasparency laws sweeping the country, Thomas Powner .

I would have my client call the company and confirm these requirements as this sounds like a scam. It is very easy for scammers to insert links and start a process that engages job seekers but ultimately they are scamming them as eventually they make offer and send a check for people to buy laptop or whatever for a remote roll and then they get scammed.

Wow….I’m shocked they actually asked for salaries from each previous position. If I was the client ,I would absolutely move on to the next opportunity!

A headshot? I've not seen that before. It isn't a job that requires camera work, is it? That may be the only reason I can think of for requiring this.

I feel like the headshot, in particular, destroys any credibility of their remaining impartial to DEI/EDI information which could be discriminatory. “Oh, we really liked your resume, we just thought we should check to see if you’re female/older/non-white.” What the…?!

There is a lot of implied bias with this request. I think it is a hard pass.

Very strange, especially the request for a headshot. Clearly they're looking for reasons to disqualify people. And isn't the company opening themselves up for discrimination lawsuits?

Agreed too much work to apply for a position.

Ugh. Definitely sounds like knockout questions to me. Based on the person's expertise, they may still get a conversation with the company, though. Like Virginia Franco, I am very surprised by the headshot request. I also wonder if the grad date is a way to verify completion?
