I have had the opportunity to assist a taskforce responsible for recruiting over 40 executives for my former company, while also reviewing more than 500 resumes. One of the most critical mistakes made by applicants is the omission of detailed job descriptions in their resumes. A well-crafted job description not only outlines your responsibilities but also highlights your achievements and contributions. For example, if you're applying for a maintenance engineer position, consider these improvements: 𝐈𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 1. Attended daily meetings to coordinate maintenance tasks. 2. Participated in risk assessments for installing new compressors. 3. Submitted daily reports to management. 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 1. Led the taskforce to coordinate maintenance activities, ensuring seamless operations and timely completion. 2. Played a pivotal role in conducting thorough risk assessments for the installation of new compressors, contributing to informed decision-making and risk mitigation efforts. 3. Established efficient reporting mechanisms, facilitating clearer communication with management and enhancing overall productivity. ------------------------------------ Remember, we value your accomplishments over mere job responsibilities. Using the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) method helps to effectively showcase your achievements. Also, don't forget to set up a LinkedIn profile and include the link in your resume. Hiring managers often 'stalk' your LinkedIn profiles before scheduling interviews to learn more about candidates. Please comment if you want to add further. Thank you for reading 🙏🏼 p/s: Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible moms out there! Your love, strength, and endless support make the world a better place ❤️❤️❤️

Key Takeaways from My Experience as a Field Service Engineer (Besides Repairing): 1. Preparing for Life on the Road: When embarking on a road trip to another province (if not flying), it's vital to: - Conduct a thorough vehicle check, including tire pressure, spare wheel, oil levels, and water levels. - Plan the route in advance, identifying suitable roads and fueling stations. - Arrange for convenient and safe meal options, considering bulk purchases to minimize unnecessary and unsafe stops. - Book accommodations in advance to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience. 2. Professional Appearance and Demeanor: Upon arriving on-site, it's crucial to present oneself professionally and maintain a positive attitude. First impressions significantly impact the client's perception of the company. As a representative of the organization, it's essential to embody its values and image. Before commencing repairs, engage in a thorough discussion with the end-user or technician to gain a comprehensive understanding of the equipment's issues. This approach saves time and ensures a more effective solution. After completing the repair, calibration, or software update, ensure the equipment is cleaned and tidy. This attention to detail significantly enhances the laboratory technicians' satisfaction and overall experience. 😁

Precaution is more Powerful than Expertise! At an interview to fill the vacancy of a Field Engineer in a multinational company, two competent Engineers were shortlisted. They were asked if they could drive and they both answered Yes, even though only one could drive. The HR spearheading the interview then handed his car keys to them to prove their driving skills within the premises. The over-confident applicant collected the car key, opened it, turned on the ignition, sped off, swirled, swerved and made some stunts on the wheels before parking the car. The other applicant who could not drive collected the key all the same, opened the bonnet, checked the engine oil level, the brake fluid level, the gear oil level and the water level in the radiator. As he closed the bonnet, the HR walked towards him and said: "Don't bother driving, you've just been hired!" A new week is here again! As you step out to do your habitual duties, don’t neglect basic principles of ethics and precautions! Some accidents wouldn’t have occurred if someone was extra careful! Remember; Direction is more important than speed! and Precaution is more powerful than expertise! Shalom Ernest.

Nah..! That's not my job.. As field engineers, our responsibilities extend beyond our typical duties and may occasionally involve tasks that fall outside our designated scope of work. Prior to commencing any work, it is crucial to clearly define the boundaries of our involvement. While we strive to adhere to our designated tasks, there may be instances where we are required to provide support to other departments within our organization or assist the customer's project team to facilitate progress and ensure a smooth workflow. As representatives of our esteemed brand or organization, it is our duty to prioritize customer satisfaction and strive to complete assigned tasks in accordance with established standards. Rather than expressing complaints or hindering progress, we should focus on providing support and ensuring the successful completion of the work. Ultimately, it is the collective responsibility of each individual to contribute towards creating a positive and productive environment. By embracing this shared responsibility, we can work together to achieve our common goals and make a meaningful impact. #MRI #discipline #work_culture #customer #FieldEngineering
