Investor and finance professor who is passionate about AI, Machine Learning, and futurism. All posts I made here represent my personal view, not the view of my past, current, or future employer.
It is not just the tech giants that had over hired. Most major corporations had over hired during the pandemic. It is clear that the hiring process needs a major overhaul. Hiring should not based on the revenue trend of the most recent quarters. A more comprehensive analysis of the market share, product competitiveness, and global economic trends should be performed before hiring in hope of higher revenues to cover the costs. https://lnkd.in/gSBKMh8e

2023 was the year of tech industry layoffs, however thanks to the ‘’AI Arms race’, 2024 could see a hiring upswing in the tech space as the skills of future grow in demand. Meta announces that they are expecting headcount to be ‘meaningfully higher than last year’. It will be interesting to see if there is a knock effect across our region… my money says yes. Most big businesses are wanting to develop their own tech or wanting to be more like a tech firm (particularly when valuations are considered). I’d be curious if tech firms or tech departments across our region are seeing similar intentions to invest back into headcount after layoffs. https://lnkd.in/gMKKSAfZ

I don't buy this idea that companies are just now realizing that being leaner can make you more efficient. I absolutely agree that sometimes companies become bloated in certain areas and course correct. This has been a reality forever. Zuckerberg's "enlightenment" sounds like code for "we really don't forecast well so we have waves of over hiring and correcting." Smart businesses recognize when business is shifting. If they realize they have too many resources in one area and opportunity in another, they have to rationalize whether they have the right skillsets and may find themselves simultaneously laying off and hiring. https://lnkd.in/g7H-6HuZ

Physical health is the catalyst for a good mental. Many studies support the notion that physical well-being and mental well-being are closely linked. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and adequate rest can all contribute to better mental health by reducing stress, improving mood, and enhancing overall cognitive function. Why not explore companies/firms who encourage this lifestyle? Check out what Ethan Cohen has to say about it!
Hey Recruiters 👋 On a scale of 1 - chronic back pain, how much has your work schedule impacted your exercise habits and physical health? As an avid gym go-er and victim of stiff office chairs myself, maintaining a consistent workout schedule is absolutely vital. When I worked at a traditional agency, I was constantly in pain from sitting for long hours, and always too exhausted to go to the gym before or after. This only got worse as the months went on. With Oculus Group, LLC, I can now prioritize my physical health and I’m the healthiest i’ve ever been because of it. And the crazy thing about smart phones… they’re kinda like little computers 🙂 I’ve been responding to messages/emails at a 5% incline all morning! 2 birds 🐦 one phone 📱! #recruitment #sales #businessdevelopment #hiring #remote #wfh
