"How Raheem Sterling, Nwaneri, and Jorginho Could Define Arsenal’s Season" After a challenging time at Chelsea, Raheem Sterling's move to Arsenal feels like a fresh start—a chance to reignite his career under the guidance of Mikel Arteta, someone who knows how to bring out the best in him. But is he really the perfect fit for the Gunners? That’s the big question. Beyond Sterling, Arsenal faces a critical decision in the upcoming North London Derby. With key players like Declan Rice and Mikel Merino sidelined, young Ethan Nwaneri might be called upon to step into the #8 role. It’s a high-stakes gamble, but the pressure of such a match could be the ultimate test of his readiness. Whether Arsenal takes that risk could shape not just the Derby, but Nwaneri’s entire season. Then there's Jorginho—a player who’s been quietly influential at Arsenal. While he may not grab headlines like some of his teammates, his experience and calm presence on the field could be exactly what’s needed in a heated match against Tottenham. With Rice out, Jorginho’s ability to control the tempo and keep the team composed might just be the key to victory. Arsenal’s summer transfer window brought plenty of surprises, with some key departures and missed opportunities. The decisions made now will resonate throughout the season—impacting team dynamics, performance, and ultimately, where Arsenal finishes on the table. As we look ahead to the rest of the season, it’s clear that players like Sterling, Nwaneri, and Jorginho will play crucial roles. Whether they rise to the occasion or not could define Arsenal’s success this year. Listen to our latest podcast episode https://pod.fo/e/265816 where we break it all down. #upgunnerspodcast #arsenal

Tottenham 0-3 Arsenal – Premier League: Live score and updates as Havertz adds a third for rampant Gunners in huge north London derby https://ift.tt/oAvzftr By Harry Bamforth Published: 07:00 EDT, 28 April 2024 | Updated: 10:06 EDT, 28 April 2024 Advertisement ‘Spurs can feel rather unlucky’ Oliver Holt, Mail Sport Chief Sports Writer, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: Ange Postecoglou is being lambasted online for naivety but Spurs can feel rather unlucky to be going in at half-time 3-0 down. The width of a post and a tight offside are the difference between them maybe being level and staring down the barrel of a beating. Spurs are, though, culpable for some poor defending and Arsenal have been breathtaking on the counter-attack. It looks as if the title race is heading down to the wire. Elsewhere in the PL This is not the only fixture in the Premier League today. On the south coast, Bournemouth’s incredible campaign is continuing as they lead Brighton 1-0 at the break thanks to Marcos Senesi. The Seagulls just can’t buy a win at the moment… Saka’s monumental goal I didn’t have time to mention it at the time, but Bukayo Saka’s goal was a huge one for him. Not only is he the first English player to score 15 goals in a Premier League season in 27 years, but he is also the first English Arsenal player to score in both the home and away north London derbies in a season since Ian Wright, 30 years ago. What a lovely goal it was too. HALF-TIME: Spurs 0-3 Arsenal Breathless… that’s how I’d explain that half of football. Arsenal were clinical, and Tottenham were not, this is the difference between the two sides at the break. You could say Spurs have played the better football, but the Gunners have punished them with their set-piece prowess and counter-attacking speed. If this ends up as anything other than three points to Arsenal, a miracle would have taken place. That 45 minutes could not have gone any better for Mike Arteta. CHANCE! Spurs 0-3 Arsenal Tottenham aren’t lying down without a fight. Mickey Van de Ven brings out a lovely roulette to open up some space for the cross, which Brennan Johnson tries to turn home twice, but it flies over the bar. That would have been lovely. SIX added minutes Can Spurs pull on back before half-time? If they do that would give them some hope, but if not, the game is pretty much done. BIG CHANCE! Spurs 0-3 Arsenal Oh, Son Heung-Min… Spurs should have a goal back. The Tottenham captain is sent through over the top between Gabriel and William Saliba, but he nearly sends his strike out of the stadium. You just expected Son to do better, as he normally does, but he didn’t show his usual composure there. That’s just the game Spurs are having. Spurs 0-3 Arsenal I think Tottenham have now just thrown defending out the window. that’s a worry because Arsenal can just sit back and hit them on the counter-attack over, and over, again. They need some discipline here. GOAL!!...

From Respect to Rivalry: Manchester City vs. Arsenal – It Just Got Personal ⚽ Arsenal vs. Manchester City was a game to watch! What began as a respectful competition quickly turned into a fierce contest. The recent match was intense, with plenty of drama and questionable refereeing decisions. One of the key moments? Leandro Trossard received a controversial red card, forcing Arsenal to play the second half with just 10 men! Despite the setback, Arsenal put on a stellar defensive display, showing unity and resilience. Unfortunately, City found a way through in the final moments, scoring with the last kick of the game, with the match ending 2-2. But the real spark came from two key post-match moments: 1. Haaland’s Message to Arteta: Erling Haaland was caught telling Mikel Arteta to “stay humble, eh,” a remark that set social media wild and hinted at underlying tensions. 2. Bernardo Silva’s Comments: Bernardo didn't hold back when asked to compare matches against Arsenal and Liverpool: “The difference? Maybe Liverpool have already won the Premier League, Arsenal haven’t. That Liverpool have won the Champions League, Arsenal haven’t. Liverpool always faced us head-to-head to try to win the games. So, from this perspective, the games against Arsenal haven’t been like the ones we had and have against Liverpool." 🤐 It’s safe to say we’ll be seeing a much more intense rivalry when these two giants face off at the Emirates Stadium on February 1st, 2025 🍿 How do you think this rivalry will unfold as the season progresses? #BeyondThe90 #ManchesterCity #ErlingHaaland #BernardoSilva #ArsenalFC #PremierLeague #JoinTheConversation

Arsenal in Talks with Sporting over €60m Deal for Ousmane Diomand: A Transfer Saga Unfolds Amid the bustling transfer market, Arsenal has emerged as a formidable contender in the race to secure the services of Sporting Lisbon’s rising star, Ousmane Diomande. The Gunners, led by manager Mikel Arteta, have initiated discussions with both the player’s agent and the Sporting hierarchy, signaling their intent to negotiate a summer transfer deal1. Diomande, a talented 20-year-old defender, has been a revelation for Sporting. His impressive stats speak volumes: an average of 64 passes per game with a remarkable 92% accuracy, 1.7 tackles per outing, and 5.8 ball recoveries. His dueling prowess stands at a commendable 64% success rate1. These attributes position him as a promising center-back with the potential to ascend to elite status. Chelsea, Arsenal’s London rivals, had initially taken the lead in pursuing Diomande. However, the Gunners have swiftly matched Chelsea’s opening offer of €60 million, with an additional €20 million structured as add-ons. This proposal places Diomande at the heart of Arsenal’s defensive ambitions1. While the North London club offers an enticing destination, Diomande faces a crucial decision. Regular playing time may not be guaranteed, given Arsenal’s competitive squad. Arteta could utilize him in rotation, with the long-term goal of establishing him as a regular starter. Alternatively, if Diomande seeks assured starts, Chelsea remains an attractive alternative1. The transfer saga unfolds, and fans eagerly await the outcome. Will Diomande don the red and white of Arsenal or opt for the blue of Chelsea? Only time will reveal the next chapter in this captivating football narrative

Transfer news: De Zerbi Man Utd Chelsea, Kane’s future, Neto to Arsenal or Liverpool, and more: This article was originally published on the Daily Briefing, a subscription service. If you would like to receive Ben Jacobs’ exclusive transfer columns via email ahead of publication on caughtoffside.com, please sign-up for the service here: thedailybriefing.io. De Zerbi liked by Chelsea and Man Utd as Pochettino and Ten Hag face testing period Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino are in quite similar positions. The aim of both clubs is to judge them at the end of the season, but each manager has an important stretch of games coming up that could prove defining for their futures. Chelsea’s owners have always planned to judge Pochettino at the end of the season in a two-way appraisal, whilst Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS want to be fair to ten Hag and take some time to assess him. Neither club is in a rush to make a decision about their manager, and part of the reason for that is that not many top candidates would want to join at this stage of the season. Naturally, both Chelsea and United are aware that several managers are in demand with Liverpool and Bayern looking for their next manager ahead of 2024/25. Chelsea haven’t made any determination on Pochettino yet despite growing fan discontent. In an ideal world, they don’t want to make a change, so nothing is pre-decided. It’s true, however, that the club appreciates Ruben Amorim, Roberto De Zerbi and Xabi Alonso. Sporting’s Amorim was actually looked at prior to Graham Potter being appointed in September 2022 so has been on Chelsea’s radar for quite some time. But looking at names (and even cultivating relationships with them) is just normal succession planning and it doesn’t mean Pochettino is definitely departing. It’s clear, though, failure to achieve European football this season won’t help the Argentine’s case. Manchester United also rate Amorim and De Zerbi. Zinedine Zidane and potentially Potter could be considered should a change be made. But Ratcliffe and his team aren’t interviewing candidates yet. Instead they are intent to make executive hires first rather than change the manager. The feeling is it’s counter-productive to resolve the future of ten Hag or way or the other before first finalising a sporting director, with Dan Ashworth close to joining and Southampton’s Jason Wilcox also being targeted in addition. Ten Hag knows he has no guarantees of job security but has been told no one is being lined up behind his back either. He’s aware he’s being judged in the coming weeks and months, much like many other leadership figures at the club, as part of the Sir Dave Brailsford-led strategic review. Arsenal want at least £20 million for out of favour defender: Arsenal will demand at least £20 million for Kieran Tierney. Despite being signed by Mikel Arteta from Celtic in 2019, Tierney, 26, has found his first-team chances at the Emirates limited. Forced to play as backup to summer-signing Oleksandr Zinchenko, and resigned to just a handful of cup appearances, the Scotland international understandably agreed to join Spanish side Real Sociedad on loan until the end of the season. Consequently, with less than two years left on his contract, as well as having no role to play at his parent club, it seems inevitable the 26-year-old will be moved on permanently once the summer window opens.Kieran Tierney in action for Arsenal. And according to a recent report from GiveMeSport, sanctioning the defender’s sale is exactly what the Gunners will do, as long as their valuation is met by a buying club. Arsenal, who are pushing to win their first Premier League since 2004, are believed to want any negotiations for Tierney to start at £20 million. The full-back’s agents are also open to facilitating a move abroad following the player’s willingness to play outside of England. During his time at the Emirates, Tierney, who has represented Scotland on 39 occasions, has scored five goals and registered 14 assists in 124 games in all competitions. Euro heavyweights want 26-year-old Arsenal star, but the Gunners have other plans: Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has been linked with a contract extension in recent weeks. Arsenal are impressed with his performances and they are planning to reward him with a bumper new contract. They expect the 26-year-old to sign a new deal with the club and commit his long-term future to them. According to HITC, clubs like Bayern Munich and Barcelona are keen on signing the highly-rated defender. The Brazilian is at the peak of his powers and he has proven himself in the Premier League over the years. It is no surprise that the European heavyweights are keen on securing his signature. Both Barcelona and Munich have looked vulnerable at the back, and they could certainly use more quality in the defensive unit. The South American defender could come in and make an immediate impact. He has the quality to compete at the highest level and he could be a key player for the two clubs. Arsenal do not want to sell Gabriel However, Arsenal have other plans and they do not want to sell the player any time soon. They are hoping to keep him at the club for as long as possible, and that will certainly come as a major blow for Bayern Munich and Barcelona. It remains to be seen whether they decide to move on to other targets now. They will need to improve their defence if they are serious about winning major trophies and someone like Gabriel could have transformed them at the back. Meanwhile, Arsenal will be hoping to win major trophies as well, and they need to keep their best players at the club. Selling the South American would weaken them defensively and therefore it is no surprise that they are working to tie him down to a long-term deal. Did someone pull the fire alarm at the London Stadium? We saw hundreds of West Ham fans leaving before half-time in their game against Arsenal… Meanwhile in the Northamber FPL, the gap at the top closed by a point to just 5pts, and David Tulip stormed the top-20 with his 100pt haul, Hardeep Lakhpuri just behind him with 99pts and Jon Davis also made a climb into 5th with his 93pt return. That’s more than double what we scored, and it’s probably too late for us to say “we forgot we had a team”. This gameweek has TWELVE fixtures, you know what that means…DOUBLE GAMEWEEK, with Man City, Liverpool, Brentford and Luton all playing twice. Elsewhere West Ham travel to Forest hoping for less kick-offs than the 7 they had against Arsenal, Palace travel to Goodison Park to deliver 3pts to Everton, Luton look to bounce back from their Sheff Utd disappointment at home to Man Utd, before travelling to Liverpool on Wednesday. Burnley’s task isn’t any easier this week as they welcome 3rd place Arsenal to Turf Moor, and our task is difficult too because we can’t afford to put Haaland back in the team. Expect another low score from us… 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eer2QCWi #northamberfpl #fantasyfootball #channelsales 🤝 WatchGuard UK & Ireland | WatchGuard Technologies

Leadership Lesson from Mikel Arteta During Arsenal FC 2-0 win against Brighton FC on Sat, Dec 15, Arsenal’s Manager, Mikel Arteta withdrew Kai Havertz in the 85th minute after he scored Arsenal's 2nd goal of the match. I’m of the opinion that the timing of the swap was designed to trigger a standing ovation from Arsenal fans, which is exactly what happened. The manager’s action on that day is part of his ongoing efforts to help the player regain his confidence and begin to perform at the level he’s known for. For none Arsenal fans, Kai was bought from Chelsea at the beginning of the season for £65M, and struggled to fit into the team. Fans did not waste time to tag the deal a bad one, and have since vented their anger and frustration on the player despite Kai just joining the team. In fact, he has been at the receiving end of most fans with some going the extreme of calling him names. Despite all the noise around the signing, Mikel Arteta believed in him and continued to give him game time. He never ceased to utilize every opportunity to ask for the support of all while the player settles in. Kai so far has scored 4 goals in the last 7 matches he played in. Not just scoring goals but also named Man-of-Match in one the games, and a recipient of Arsenal player of the month of November award. What a turnaround. Lessons: 1). There are times that all we need is encouragement/ support to get back to our best or build the much needed confidence to perform. No matter how good one is, we all do experience some nervousness especially when we step out of our comfort zone. If you have ever changed employment, you will know what I'm taking about. We must be mindful of this situation and never fail to provide support to folks that are experiencing some challenges assimilating into a new team or work environment. 2). Our choice of words does matter. Using harsh and unpleasant words has the potential to make an already difficult situation worse. If we must say something, it has to be positive words of encouragement. Our choice of words can make or break people. Remember, no matter how strong and powerful people may come across, there are times we all need a friendly shoulder to lean on. Superman only exists in movies!

Liverpool Look At Shock New Candidate https://ift.tt/FDhu3Af Liverpool FC have reportedly interviewed Gary O’Neil as a potential replacement for Jurgen Klopp, with the German set to leave the club at the end of the year. The report by DaveOKCP, claims that the Premier League side have spoken to O’Neil as a potential candidate. This comes as negotiations with Ruben Amorim, Sporting Lisbon’s current manager, have stalled according to various journalists including David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano. Gary O’Neil is currently manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers, having taken charge of the side last summer. The 40-year-old has managed 40 games at his current club with 16 wins, eight draws and 16 defeats, stabilising a side that was struggling to compete. Prior to this, he took over from Scott Parker at Bournemouth, initially on a caretaker basis, however, the club opted to replace him with Andoni Irola despite impressing in the role. What Happened To Liverpool’s Pursuit Of Amorim? For a period, it looked as though the deal was done, with numerous publications even running stories based on who his potential summer transfer targets could be. However, the manager was forced to come out and deny that a deal had been struck with the English giants. Then yesterday, it emerged that West Ham United were attempting an ambitious move for the manager as a replacement for David Moyes as negotiations with Liverpool had stalled. These talks also seem to have broken down with neither club close to appointing a successor. Klopp’s Last Season A Disappointment? For a man who seemingly transformed Liverpool into a serious contender once again, his final season looks to be ending with a fizzle, rather than a bang. It perhaps demonstrates the heights he has taken the club in recent years that although he has picked up silverware, in the form of the Carabao Cup, many see this season as a disappointment. Dumped out of Europe by Atalanta and gave up the lead in extra time to a poor Manchester United side in the FA Cup although they are still in the title race alongside Arsenal and Manchester City. This team, however, doesn’t feel like the vibrant, unstoppable machine of previous years and perhaps doesn’t represent Klopp’s Liverpool at its best. <p>The post Liverpool Look At Shock New Candidate first appeared on The Deck.</p> Ryan Whelan Read More At Look Sports Media
