Take the air compressor—used worldwide in countless industries, and it’s been the same basic design for over a century. Why change something that ‘works’? But does it really work as well as it could? Imagine a world where compressors are quieter, more efficient, and far more sustainable. That's exactly what Lontra, a UK-based company, set out to achieve with their revolutionary Blade Compressor, rethinking the core of compressor design. But as groundbreaking as their invention was, it's a tough, risky business inventing new technology. Recently, I noticed that Lontra seems to have disappeared and is now in administration—a sobering reminder of the challenges faced when trying to disrupt long-established industries. This same concept applies to another ancient staple of manufacturing: mould tooling. For decades, moulds have remained static, expensive, and incredibly wasteful. But with polymorphic moulding, we’re shaking things up. Just as Lontra sought to revolutionize compressors, we’ve developed reusable moulds that adapt and change, saving time, cutting costs, and boosting sustainability.
