Less than 4 weeks til it's time to dance. Peaking is a tricky art. You need to push close to the comp, but also need to give your body and nervous system time to heal beforehand, especially when traveling to the meet. This is right around my last warm up (965), full gear with a very light knee wrap. This really is about feeling the weight and the additional pressure the suit puts you under so it's not a surprise on meet day... To all my tech and network friends, sounds an awful lot like stress testing doesn't it? Ensuring the platform can do what it says it can do when it's truly put to the test and everything counts. The parallels of competition and business are very interesting and both sides can learn so much from the other. When to push and take (calculated) risks; when to be pragmatic and pump the brakes. Self park cars Listening to the radio presenter say they have a car that can park itself but they don’t use this function as it takes 3 minutes longer to do it so to save time they just do it themselves. This made me laugh 😆 Why buy one with this capability if you are not going to use it? This is the case with so many situations I observe in business. The time it takes usually influences the choice we make. Especially when time feels short. We opt for the speedy option. This can look like telling someone what to do as appose to working with them to be able to do something independently or not giving someone feedback because we don’t feel we have time and so “it can wait till later” or having a conversation about something you need to ensure someone adjusts later in the week because doing this now will take too long. As we strive to develop an independent competent team, time is such an influence in our choices and unlike the self drive car what I can tell you is this choice to save time today will definitely take you more time in the future! Keeping someone dependent on you doing “it” for them or always telling them how doesn’t develop them into autonomous and independent team members, so you are setting up a way of working that will steal time. Worth thinking about !
