Yomari Punhi with Lekali Dog Chew Nepal
Yesterday, we marked the special occasion of Yomari Punhi at Lekali Dog Chew Nepal with delicious Yomari made by our colleague Alisha Maharjan and some light snacks prepared by Maya didi. As part of the celebration, we also had a sharing session to reflect on the cultural significance of this festival. Yomari Punhi, rooted in Nepali tradition, celebrates the full moon and the harvest season - a time to express gratitude and enjoy the fruits of hard work. For us, it was a great opportunity to bond as a team, appreciate our rich heritage and share stories of how this festival is celebrated across different communities.

In the dance of light and darkness, we often find ourselves caught in the whirlwind of modern life, forgetting the deeper meanings behind our celebrations. Recently, my organization faced a significant challenge: the rising stress and burnout among healthcare professionals. The demands of our roles were overwhelming, leading to a palpable sense of darkness that clouded our collective spirit. It was clear that we needed to rekindle the light of inner resilience and well-being. Drawing inspiration from the essence of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, we initiated a series of workshops focusing on self-awareness and mindfulness. We encouraged our team to explore the ancient wisdom of Jnana—self-knowledge—as a means to illuminate their paths amidst the chaos. By integrating practices such as yoga and meditation into our daily routines, we created a space for reflection and connection, allowing individuals to confront their inner challenges rather than merely escaping them. As we embraced this journey inward, something remarkable happened. The atmosphere shifted; colleagues began to share their experiences, vulnerabilities, and triumphs. The darkness that once loomed began to dissipate, replaced by a renewed sense of purpose and camaraderie. It was a powerful reminder that true joy and resilience come from within, not from external celebrations or distractions. This experience taught me that while festivals like Diwali and Halloween may serve as temporary lifts in our spirits, the real celebration lies in our ability to cultivate inner peace and understanding. Let’s remember that the light we seek is not just in the festivities but in the quiet moments of self-discovery. How do you nurture your inner resilience amidst the chaos of life? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments below. Celebrating Onam in Tamil Nadu: A Lesson in Unity and Tradition Today, I had the pleasure of celebrating the vibrant Onam festival here in Tamil Nadu. It was a truly enriching experience, where people from diverse backgrounds came together to enjoy the festivities, share meals, and embrace the culture. Key learnings from this celebration: 1. Unity in Diversity: Onam is a reminder that festivals bring people from all walks of life together, teaching us the importance of togetherness and harmony. 2. Cultural Appreciation: Embracing and respecting different traditions enriches our own understanding of the world and strengthens our connections. 3. Festivities and Reflection: Festivals are not just about celebration but also about reflecting on shared values like gratitude, unity, and joy. 4. Inclusivity: Being part of such a culturally significant event reminds me how inclusive celebrations can build stronger bonds both in personal and professional lives. Experiences like this teach us the value of connecting with others on a deeper level, which can be vital for building meaningful relationships—be it in life or business. What’s one cultural celebration that has inspired you or taught you an important lesson?
