“I see openings and hiring opportunities for Research Assistant/Lab manager positions but they close too soon.” Of course they do. For the lack of a better, softer, and sweeter word, the competition is cut-throat. So how can you pull up your socks & prepare for applying the moment you encounter an opportunity? 1) Make a folder on your laptop/phone/digital device and add your CV + a Cover Letter you can slightly modify for each of your applications. 2) Have a COLD EMAIL ready to send it to the hiring manager/lab manager (most labs may not have proper HRs but lab managers or other RAs who assist in recruitment). Sending a cold email along with filling an application form sets you apart + helps them remember your candidature more than others. 3) Maintain an Application tracker and update it every week. To growth and gratitude🌸 #researchassistantship #pennstate #researchassistant #applicationprocess #hiring #dealingwithhiringposts #columbiauniversity

🌟 Opening Doors for Non-IT Background Students in the IT Field 🌟 In today's rapidly evolving tech landscape, diverse perspectives are more crucial than ever. I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on a pressing question: Should students with non-IT backgrounds be given a fair chance to enter and thrive in the IT field? While traditional IT degrees have long been the norm, many skills and experiences from other disciplines can bring unique value to technology roles. From creative problem-solving to a fresh perspective on user needs, the potential benefits are substantial. What do you think? Should we advocate for more inclusive hiring practices in tech? How can we better support non-IT background candidates in acquiring necessary skills? What role do you see non-IT backgrounds playing in the future of technology? Looking forward to your insights and experiences! #CareerGrowth #TechDiversity #InclusiveHiring #ITCareers #ProfessionalDevelopment

Most of us who are now employed would empathise with the challenges faced by many in today's job market. It’s disheartening to witness talented individuals pouring their hearts into job applications—only to receive silence in return. Take, for instance, two remarkable graduates I know: Lee Luderman holds a Master’s in Mathematics with expertise in R, Python, and Matlab, while Emilie Autard has a Bachelor of Animal Science and hands-on experience at renowned institutions like Taronga Zoo and Australia Zoo. Despite their impressive qualifications, they find themselves lost in a sea of applications with little acknowledgment of their efforts. This raises an important question: Where does our responsibility lie as employers in shaping the future workforce? Are we genuinely committed to giving candidates with the right attitude a fair shot, even if they lack extensive experience? As employers, we must recognise the potential in candidates beyond their resumes. We need to foster a culture of inclusivity and mentorship, where passion and eagerness to learn are valued alongside traditional qualifications. By providing opportunities for emerging talent, we not only uplift individuals but also enrich our industries with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas. Let’s commit to being more responsive and open-minded in our hiring practices. Together, we can create a supportive environment that empowers the next generation of leaders to thrive. #EmpowerFutureLeaders #InclusiveHiring #CareerOpportunities #NextGenTalent

This week BAI Engineering Team Leader, Jaspreet Singh Bhatti, participated as an industry panellist at the Professional Practice and Leadership (PPL) forum at University of Technology Sydney. Jaspreet shares his thoughts and observations of the event: • As a panellist, I had the chance to interact with many bright and enthusiastic students. Their curiosity, passion, and eagerness to learn was clearly evident. Face-to-face interactions allowed me to connect with them beyond just their incredible academic achievements. • Meeting these students in person provided me valuable insights into their many skills not gathered from reading a resume. These problem-solving abilities, communication skills and adaptability, crucial to success in a professional setting, would allow these promising candidates to thrive in our industry. • Listening to their stories from recent internships allowed us (as panellists) to share our views to assist in bridging the gap between theory and practice. Through our practical experiences, we emphasised the importance of problem-solving, teamwork, and ethical decision-making. • Our discussions also touched upon the values companies prioritise. Beyond technical competence, organisations seek individuals who align with their culture, ethics, and long-term vision. Face-to-face interactions allowed students to understand these intangible aspects better. "At BAI, our positive culture empowers individuals, and provides a wide range of exposure to young engineers. These platforms are a fantastic opportunity to highlight the great career opportunities BAI provides, particularly to people starting out in their careers." Software/Data Engineer at Experian | Codevita Global Rank #12 | 4x Hackathon Winner | Writes to 12K+ | Ex SwiftAI
"There is always a need for constant mentorship and guidance to the early Engineers at work" Initial 2-5 years is to build the career and that's the utmost priority. When the org fails to treat their young engineers, they eventually, 📍lost at work. 📍search for alternatives. 📍fail to grow as an engineer. 📍fight for focus and unnecessary things. That's a pure mutual damage for the engineer as well as the organisation. Therefore, it's a high time to choose the company or a team on considering the term "CULTURE" Follow Gunashekar Chenna for more such insightful shares🙌🏻 #linkedIn #freshershiring #softwareengineer #worklifebalance #earlycareers #dataengineering #genai #opentowork
