#Well_Control_Lesson Standardization of barrier definitions According to IOGP, There are two primary types of barriers: hardware barriers and human barriers. Hardware and human barriers are put in place to prevent a specific threat or cause of a hazard release event, or to reduce the potential consequences if barriers have failed and an event has occurred. Both hardware and human barriers are supported by the processes and procedures contained within the Management System Elements. 1- Hardware barriers Primary containment, process equipment, and engineered systems designed and managed to prevent loss of primary containment (LOPC) and other types of asset integrity or process safety events and mitigate any potential consequences of such events. These are checked and maintained by people (in critical activity/tasks). 2- Human barriers Barriers that rely on the actions of people capable of carrying out activities designed to prevent LOPC and other types of asset integrity or process safety events and mitigate any potential consequences of such events. Management System Elements: Management System Elements that group processes and practices designed to prevent LOPC and other types of asset integrity or process safety events and mitigate any potential consequences of such events. Exciting news to share with everyone! I've officially become a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certified by the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP). I pursued the CMRP certification with the hope of opening new doors in the field of maintenance and reliability engineering. My goal is to bring enhanced skills and knowledge to contribute significantly to my next opportunity, as I am currently open for work. The CMRP program is designed to recognize the knowledge, skills, and abilities of professionals in maintenance, reliability, and asset management. The exam covered a wide range of areas, including work management, process reliability, equipment reliability, business and management, and organization and leadership of personnel. The CMRP exam is the only certification program of its kind accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) under the ISO/IEC 17024 standard. And that's not all! Currently, I'm taking courses about ASME codes for static equipment design according to the BPVC ASME Section VIII, rotating equipment design, and the famous ASME B31.3 code for process piping. This additional knowledge will further enhance my capabilities in ensuring the highest standards in equipment design and maintenance. Big shoutout to Dr. Yasser Shaban (the Mo. of Maintenance; like we have Mo Salah of Liverpool, there is Dr. Yasser in Maintenance; we LOVE you, Prof. hahaha) for being an awesome guide and providing continuous support throughout this journey! Routine Operations: It sets out to determine a case to continue operating. e.g: if PSVs are to be taken offline for testing, the Ops Supt informs abt the need during morning meeting (displaying it across the Bow-Tie), the maintenance planning, process safety sit-in and pick it up. A downgraded situation is called, and the necessary interlocks are commissioned and communicated. This is reflected in realtime to all users. 2. Trasient Operations:e.g: Pigging, start-ups, opportunistic S/Ds, Turnarounds etc. 3. Gap analysis: For brownfield facilities, not validated to industry best practices, Bow-Tie helps verify adequacy of barriers.i.e: What is necessary vs what is available 4. SCTA: For pipeline operations, where the SIFs are human initiated (determined by process safety time), Bow-Tie is one of the source to start. It helps deliberate the human factors affecting MAH 5. SCE Defeats, deferrals, overrides: obvious 6. PSMS assurance: One of the best tools to initiate assurance / audits on, the following PSM elements, i.e. Asset Integrity, Operating Readiness, Conduct of Ops, Incident Investigations. Thoughts?

View my verified achievement from SMRPCO - Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional. Glad to reinforce my knowledge on maintenance scheduling, planning, and execution. Busting the myth on maintenance: 1) Doing more maintenance/replacing parts will improve equipment reliability ❌ Reliability centered maint. approach is DOING THE RIGHT THINGS not more or less but what's required to preserve equipment functionality. 2) Adding more manpower will improve productivity. ❌ Planning & scheduling improves wrench time which unlocks more productivity of technicians. 3) Repeatedly fixing equipment breakdown reactively will improve reliability ❌ Root cause analysis if done right will address the core issue rather than the symptoms. In long run, more savings and manhours.
