In a fresh take on hundred-year-old work, time and motion study analysis now applied to a motorcycle race series where every thousandth of a second counts, any help is good for a rider to improve their lap time. A few years ago, a technique was introduced in MotoGP that has now for many riders become a vital asset. This has led to the fact that in 2024, for the first time since its introduction, all teams on the premier class grid will have a 'videometry' technician or coach. As one former MotoGP technical chief explains, 'videometry' consists of recording at a certain point on the track, always in curves, the pace of previously determined riders. These images are superimposed via software to reveal the different lines used by each rider and allows them to imitate the benchmark rider's line.
What is 'videometry', the technique that is sweeping MotoGP in 2024

The 2026 rules of FIA have been published! Most of the race, the cars will be in ‘Z mode’ with front and rear wings both set at their default downforce-producing positions. However, while driving on straights, the drivers can switch to “X mode.” This opens flaps on both wings, reducing drag and allowing the cars to pick up more speed. It’s a smart way to make the cars more efficient and faster on the straight sections of the track. I'm hoping for closer competition between rivals. Can't wait to see the future races!! 🏎️ #Formula1 #FIA #F12026 #Aerodynamics #MotorsportInnovation #Racing

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴? 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟲𝟰𝟭𝗯𝗵𝗽 𝗛𝘆𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗶 𝗜𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗾 𝟱 𝗡 𝗲𝗡𝟭 𝗖𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N hot hatch is about the most fun you can have in an EV. Fake gears, 10-second bursts of extra power, and a drift mode, all sound like gimmicks, but together they make for one engaging hot hatch. But what if the 5 N was turned up to 11? Enter the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup race car. It keeps the production 5 N’s battery and motors – so it’s still good for 641bhp. But out goes anything superfluous, and in comes a roll cage, a racing seat, slicks, and a whole lot of aero add-ons. Weight goes down 10 per cent, grip goes way up. https://lnkd.in/enMbdGUn #qubeautomotive #automotive #hyundai #cars #ev
Think electric racing is boring? The 641bhp Hyundai Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup wants to change that
