Key updates: - We are working through the official channels in coordination with partners - The need for outside assistance is concentrated in a few communities - Some relief items have already been dispatched - Priority must be on immediate needs and getting items to impacted people - Avoid sending items that are not needed now (they may be needed later) - There is a need for additional transport - Financial contributions are often more effective than goods Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eqx4FyzV #beryl #hurricane #grenada #stvincent #caricom #energynow #energynews #energychamber

If you've been following the path of now Hurricane Ernesto, you know that the storm is well on its way to Bermuda - there forecasted to be one of the less than 15 storms to hit the archipelago since the 1850s. However, then Tropical Storm Ernesto packed a punch in the Caribbean, as well. One of the most affected islands was Puerto Rico, and the island's critical infrastructure is currently under deep strain. Reuters reports that up to a quarter of the island is without power. Worse still, hundreds of thousands are reported to be without water, as well, attesting to the increasing link between disaster preparedness and critical infrastructure protection. National Hurricane Centre Tracking For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico: 1. Southwestern Atlantic and Eastern Gulf of Mexico: A well-defined tropical wave is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms over Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the northern Leeward Islands, and the adjacent waters of the southwestern Atlantic and northeastern Caribbean Sea. Development of this system is unlikely during the next couple of days while it moves west-northwestward over portions of the Greater Antilles. However, environmental conditions are forecast to be more conducive for development after the wave passes the Greater Antilles, and a tropical depression could form this weekend or early next week over the eastern Gulf of Mexico or far southwestern Atlantic Ocean, including in the vicinity of Florida. Interests across the Greater Antilles, Bahamas, and Florida should continue to monitor the progress of this system. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent. * Formation chance through 7 days...medium...60 percent.
Hurricane Early Preparation & Awareness With the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane season now well on the way, for those properties that are within the Caribbean basin should now be aware now of the tracking developments of a weather disturbance moving west in the Central Atlantic at this time. National Hurricane Center predicts further development in the coming days. Clive Hamdorff Regional Security & Risk Consultant Japan.
