Is it worth fighting a battle alone vs the entire society? Sometimes, undeniably, we have to fight battles in which the entire society including our families are posing as enemies. This typically happens when we defy norms to create a free individuality. It is of course unfortunate that to live with freedom, we have to pay a huge cost of isolation. But is being the lone warrior against the entire army of society worth it? Can we not just stay at home and make adjustments rather than being wounded? Well, ask this to yourself. Would you rather fight for your freedom or surrender to the confinement of society? Would you choose to say yes to everything or say no to injustice? It is a choice between bad and worse. Possibly, if you choose to fight alone, the battle might never end. But if you choose to adjust and sacrifice, you will never come out of the inevitable consequences. A never-ending battle is always better than surrender and confinement. At least you won't lose the vision and mission of your life. So don't be scared of the isolation on the battleground. At Alter New Media, our founder, Nadya Rousseau, recalls being in 9th grade when her school was evacuated. She, like many others, watched in disbelief as the Twin Towers fell and our country faced an unimaginable tragedy. Living near a military base and close to Washington D.C., there was a palpable sense of fear about what might come next. In 2018, Nadya was in New York City on September 11th and remembers walking through Chinatown, where fireworks were set off in remembrance of the victims. The experience was a stark reminder of the resilience and strength that emerged from that devastating day. Now, on September 11th, 2024, as a company headquartered in Nevada, we reflect on how the challenges we face today, especially in an increasingly divided political landscape, contrast with the unity that brought us together after 9/11. Recent presidential debates may highlight division, but today, we remember that unity is more powerful than any political differences. At Alter New Media, we are inspired by the independent spirit we see across America and the communities we serve. Despite the challenges our country faces, we are reminded of how fortunate we are to live in a nation that values freedom, resilience, and the ability to come together in times of need.
