Negotiation is an essential skill, not just for formal discussions but also for our daily interactions. Whether you're negotiating with investors, cross-departmental managers, HR, or even yourself, navigating these conversations effectively is crucial. But with so many negotiation strategies available, how do you determine which one to use? Here are a few key questions to consider: 1. Who is your counterpart in this negotiation? 2. How does their influence affect the outcomes you aim to achieve? 3. What evidence or reasoning do you have to support your position? 4. What are the consequences if this negotiation does not succeed? 5. How much time do you have to reach an agreement? After researching various techniques, I’ve narrowed it down to 15 highly applicable to real-world situations. I encourage you to explore and apply them in your negotiations. I frequently use Good Cop/Bad Cop, Anchoring, and Making Concessions. #NegotiationSkills #Leadership #BusinessStrategy #ProfessionalDevelopment #ConflictResolution Detailed PDF and Mindmap available.

The Human Element in Planning and Management Leaders must prioritize the human side of the equation in managing any successful planning program. An adage suggests that engineers with MBAs often see people as numbers. But let’s be clear: people are not numbers. People are not just assets or statistics. They are the backbone of any operation, bringing creativity, problem-solving, and resilience. Ironically, we often talk about “taking care of” our machines, keeping them “happy” so they don’t break down. But we should be equally, if not more, concerned about our people. Machines may be our tools, but people are our true strength. When companies say, “People are our greatest assets,” it shouldn’t be just a phrase; it should be the foundation of how we operate. Management must recognize this and actively work to foster a work environment that respects values and supports each person. After all, a motivated, respected team is the most significant driver of success. #Leadership #HumanCentered #Management #Planning #AssetManagement #PeopleFirst
