Tourism New Zealand Travel Trade’s Post

The popular Mautohe Cathedral Cove Track has officially re-opened with walkers once again able to visit this iconic coastal location by foot 🏖️ With its turquoise waters, white sands framed by native pōhutukawa trees and dramatic rock stacks, this is a must-visit destination for many beachgoers, hikers, swimmers, snorkellers and divers. When visiting remember that Cathedral Cove is remote and manuhiri (visitors) should bring sturdy footwear, plenty of water and sun protection. Encourage your clients to follow the Tiaki Promise and take all rubbish with them and leave nature as they found it. There is no parking at the start of the walking track. It’s recommended that visitors park at the Hahei Visitor Carpark and walk or take the shuttle to the start of the track at Grange Road.
