Ski Trips and their Carbon Footprint 🏔️ As companies gear up for next winter's ski incentives, it's crucial to consider the environmental impact of these trips. Every aspect, from hotels and meals to ski equipment and travel, leaves a carbon footprint.👣 Flights stand out as the largest emitter, overshadowing the relatively low carbon footprint of skiing itself. Your choice of destination and mode of transport can significantly influence your trip's environmental impact.✈️ So, how can you make your next ski trip more eco-conscious? Opt for destinations reachable by the shortest flight, or better yet, consider train travel whenever possible.🚄 For instance, a return flight from London to Geneva emits around 228kg of CO2e per person. In contrast, the same journey by train could have emissions as low as 70kg or less. Our second office, nestled in Morzine-Avoriaz just an hour from Geneva, aligns with our commitment to sustainability. Avoriaz, in particular, stands out for its efforts in reducing emissions. If you're looking to host a meeting in the mountains while keeping your carbon footprint minimal, we can't think of a better place.🙌🏼 Drop us a message to learn more about how we can help you plan your next eco-conscious corporate getaway. 🌿 📩 enquiries@corporatepeaks.com #corporatepeaks #conferencewithapurpose #carbonfootprints #reducuingyourcarbonfootprint #SustainableTravel #ReduceCarbonFootprint #SkiIncentives

"If you aren't a local, then it's a privilege to be able to ski." The infrastructure supporting skiing comes with a substantial energy and water footprint, particularly at lower-altitude resorts. It generates food waste and increases transportation emissions when restaurants host guests beyond the sustainable capacity of a ski destination. While many Rocky Mountain resorts have begun adopting sustainable practices (for instance, Arapahoe Basin in Colorado achieved carbon neutrality in 2023 and aims to reach 75% landfill diversion this year), the U.S. neoliberal context rarely sees resorts capping daily skier numbers. Apart from visitors on the ski run, more could be at alternative activities such as backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, snow camping, etc. as many ski destinations sit on leased public land, or adjacent to somebody's backyard! The challenge lies in reconciling the growing popularity of winter sports with environmental and social responsibility. Can they go hand in hand? And more importantly, who bears the responsibility for ensuring this balance is maintained? https://lnkd.in/gWzFgU-q
