Living in Jamaica and the broader Caribbean region is a source of deep pride for many. From the vibrant cultural heritage to the breathtaking natural beauty, the region offers a unique blend of history, diversity, and spirit that is hard to find anywhere else in the world.
Jamaica, in particular, stands out with its globally recognized contributions to music, sports, and culture. The birthplace of reggae, it is home to legends like Bob Marley, whose influence continues to resonate worldwide. Additionally, Jamaica’s athletes, especially in track and field, consistently rank among the best in the world, embodying the island’s resilience and excellence.
The Caribbean as a whole is a melting pot of cultures, reflecting a rich history shaped by indigenous peoples, African heritage, and European influences. This diversity is celebrated through colorful festivals, flavorful cuisines, and the warm hospitality that the region is known for. Each island has its own unique charm, yet they all share a common spirit of community, strength, and joy.
Moreover, the region’s natural beauty is unmatched. From the turquoise waters of the Bahamas to the lush mountains of Jamaica, the Caribbean offers endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation. Living here means being surrounded by stunning beaches, vibrant marine life, and a climate that invites outdoor living year-round.
In the face of challenges, from colonial histories to modern environmental threats, the Caribbean people have shown incredible resilience. This strength, paired with the region’s deep cultural pride and natural wealth, makes living in Jamaica and the Caribbean something to truly celebrate. It’s a reminder that, no matter the struggles, there’s so much to be proud of and grateful for in this corner of the world. #SandalsJamaicaLove

Entries for the LATA Responsible Tourism Awards need to be submitted by 10 May. Here are some tips for writing your winning entry. Don't forget, all the Gold Winners are automatically entered into the Sabre Global Responsible Tourism Awards, which are announced in November.
Good luck
💚CHOSE YOUR CRITERIA CAREFULLY💚
Make sure you check the criteria for each category carefully before entering and chose the ones that really suit your business best. You can read our examples on the LATA website, where we've compiled the winning entries from the Africa Responsible Tourism Awards.
💚FOLLOW THE SUGGESTED INCLUSIONS💚
In each category there are suggestions for what to include in your entry. Give as much detail as you can, as well as anything else that's not on the list. The judges will be looking for as many examples as possible.
💚WHY, WHAT AND HOW💚
The judges want to know WHY you chose to do something, WHAT was the impact and HOW it was funded. Supporting documents can be shared but ensure they are relevant to the category and application.
💚KEEP TO THE WORD COUNT💚
You don't need to use the full word limit but it's there as a guideline. If you are a long way under it, we suggest giving some more detail to support the application
