We were excited to be at the ribbon cutting at 26 Poquanticut Ave. to celebrate the start of work to replace the deteriorated building with a new, a permanently affordable family home. We’re thankful for the work of South Shore Habitat for Humanity and Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in making this project a reality as we work toward the goal of providing a variety of housing opportunities in Easton. In attendance were Town staff, elected/appointed officials, South Shore Habitat for Humanity, and staff/students from Southeastern Regional Voc. Tech. High School. In 2020, Easton’s Affordable Housing Trust used Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds to acquire 26 Poquanticut Ave. and 10 Morse Rd. and issued a request-for-proposal for a non-profit to develop family housing at each property. South Shore Habitat for Humanity is developing one unit at 26 Poquanticut and a two-family at 10 Morse. Easton’s CPA investments will help create three units of much-needed affordable family housing in our community.

7moI wanted to do this so badly in Swansea (still do) but I couldn't get buy in from my BOS at the time. Maybe this new spotlight on housing will be helpful to move the needle. Great work!
