I agree David Blanchett; delaying Social Security can make sense for many retirees. It is important for them to work with an advisor to do the math before making this big decision as it can have a significant impact on retirement success!
“In the grand scheme of things, delaying claiming Social Security is one of the safest things that you could probably do to protect yourself over time” ~ me As noted in article (and as I’ve stated previously on LinkedIn more than once!), lots of folks can’t afford to delay claiming (so this guidance doesn’t really apply to them), but if you have the means to actually consider when to claim Social Security retirement benefits, and are in good health, delayed claiming is definitely something to consider (and could be a smart choice!). What’s not (typically) a smart choice… reading (and believing) the comments to articles on the interwebs! Good stuff from Lorie Konish with CNBC and some nice quotes in the article from Joe Elsasser, CFP® as well! https://lnkd.in/ei2YN93n
