Why Fence Line Management Matters 🚧🌿 At Stronghold Vegetation Management, we believe that managing your fence lines is about much more than just curb appeal—it’s vital for the safety, longevity, and overall health of your property. 🌟 Here’s why keeping those fence lines clear is a smart investment: 🚧 Safety First: Overgrown vegetation can block visibility, creating safety hazards for you, your family, and passersby. With our state-of-the-art equipment and skilled team, we ensure your fences remain sturdy and protected. 🚜 Improved Accessibility: Clear fence lines allow easy access for property inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Whether it’s routine upkeep or emergency situations, our comprehensive approach ensures your land stays accessible and ready for action. 🌱 Promoting Environmental Health: Regular management prevents invasive species from spreading, promoting healthier growth of native plants. Bridging the Gap in Wetland Delineation: Introducing a New Wetland Delineation Manual Wetlands are vital ecosystems, serving critical roles in water filtration, flood protection, and wildlife habitat preservation. However, wetland delineation, a key process for environmental professionals, remains complex and challenging, especially for newcomers to the field. To address this, Marc Seelinger, SPWS, founder of The Swamp School, is developing a practical, accessible manual to simplify the process and bridge the gap between dense regulatory documents and real-world application. This manual draws on authoritative sources, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' and USDA publications, and is enriched with visuals, expert tips, and practical organization for easier use. A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to support this initiative, offering various rewards to backers and promising to empower professionals, improve industry standards, and enhance environmental stewardship. By supporting the development of this manual, backers contribute to improved training resources for new environmental professionals, helping them gain essential skills and confidence. Accurate and efficient wetland delineations promoted through this resource can enhance environmental compliance and mitigate project risks. The manual also aims to elevate industry standards, setting a higher benchmark for environmental practices. Marc Seelinger, SPWS, and everyone at The Swamp School passionately emphasize the positive impact this resource can have on overcoming challenges faced by new professionals. Backing this project means not only acquiring a valuable tool but also investing in the preservation of wetlands and the growth of environmental stewardship for future generations. Georgiana Slough IS/MND Approval Announcement 🚨 Milestone Reached for the Brannan-Andrus Levee Maintenance District! 🚨 We are thrilled to announce that Acorn Environmental has helped the Brannan Andrus Levee Maintenance District (BALMD) reach a major milestone in their ongoing mission to protect and enhance the Delta’s levee system within their area. BALMD has officially approved the Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) prepared by Acorn for the Georgiana Slough Erosion Control and Habitat Enhancement Project! 🌿 What’s Next? 🌿 The project aims to tackle erosion issues causing undercutting along Georgiana Slough, remove invasive species, and create lush wetland benches. These enhancements will provide valuable habitat for native fish, birds, plants, and other wildlife. It’s not just about maintaining flood control levees; it’s about fostering a thriving, diverse ecosystem! The approval of the IS/MND is a significant initial step towards bringing this vision to life. As the project forges ahead, Acorn will continue to assist the BALMD with meeting additional environmental and permitting requirements, including the preparation of documentation for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers NEPA regulations. Stay tuned for more updates as the project moves closer to construction and the BALMD makes strides toward a healthier, more vibrant Delta. C+ rating for the Huron River. We must do better. We need a new relationship with the things we make, grow and build: roads, homes, buildings, food, clothes, faucets, everything! Streams and rivers are not meant to be conveyances for our waste or even for our stormwater. They emerge from the bottom up through the beneficial nature of rainwater. Water IS what makes all life on Earth possible. We must learn to build WITH nature AS nature. It is not a resource to exploit Over the last hundred plus years we’ve severed our fractal relationship with water. Fractal means that from the smallest to the largest branches, water systems are self similar at every scale. Only when our human built environment follows, inerates, and grows with these patterns will we be able to restore our watersheds
Yesterday, Watershed Report Cards were released for five southeast Michigan watersheds. Read my blog on this : https://lnkd.in/giTgW8vi #MIReportCards #scicomm #ecoreportcard #huronriver
