I Quit My First Internship Within 3 Days – And It Was the Best Decision Ever! As they say, failures are the biggest teachers of your life. There is something good always hidden in the face of adversaries. During my graduation, there was a mandatory 2 months of internship as part of the curriculum. As it was my very first experience of corporate life, I was very nervous for the same. However, when one of the biggest hotel chains called me for an internship offer, I was thrilled with the prospect of learning about the hotel industry from the experts. My first day went by smoothly in orientation and the document formalities. After that, I was allotted the bakery section to work in. The bakery of that hotel was situated in the underground where my phone caught no network and not to mention the never-ending working hours. The interns were treated no less than grade 4 workers. I could not tolerate any more and left the internship in between and got to learn the 2 biggest lessons of my life! - KNOW YOUR WORTH - Recognize your value and don’t settle for less. TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS: If something feels wrong, it probably is. Trust your gut and have the courage to walk away. Shortly after, I secured another internship where I thrived, learned immensely, and felt valued. How I moved from internship to full time!!!! without having to complete my internship 🕺🕺 So my boss added me as a Co-host and we had a guest book, this was my first experience as a Co-host 😁😁 I was literally shaking...... but I told myself I could do it✔️ I reached out to my host informing him that we were expecting a guest and HOST says TO me; this is your first task as a Co-host and as an intern🤦 You will ensure our guest is checked in✅ I was left alone to handle the whole process, I quickly swung into action. I reached out to our guest, inquiring of his location and how long it will take him to arrive, I kept communicating our guest till he got to our property and was checked in✅ I sent messages to ensure he was comfortable and if he needed any assistance. I checked up on our guest in the morning, checked up and sent a gentle reminder for check-out. I maintained effective communication till our guest checked out yesterday. Guest gave me an excellent review and my boss lifted my internship and said HEY TAKE OVER THE PROPERTY, MANAGE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT, including cleaning, handyman✅✅ I smiled while going to bed and slept like a baby 🥰 Effective communication is key to hosting a guest and ensuring the guest has a wonderful experience!!! #shorttermrentals #shorttermstay #airbnb #virtualcohost #virtualassistant

A short reflection on the start of my internship:             Internships are a critical part of one's development in their professional career. I am incredibly lucky to have my first internship at the Reyes Beverage Group office in Chicago. This past week, I started my internship at Reyes Beverage Group. Not only have I learned about the structure of the company, but I am also learning how the employees come together to service their customers and reach their goals. I have participated in their group meetings and met hardworking individuals across all levels of the corporation. Observing their communication and collaborative skills has been imperative for my adjustment and preparation in a field where these are needed. Every day in the last week has served as an opportunity to learn directly from the employees themselves. I had a chance to watch them work during difficult moments, observe how they process information and cases within their system, and rely on their skills to come to a solution. These are invaluable moments that I would not have been able to experience without my internship.             I have also observed how vital it is to adapt and overcome challenges quickly. As the week progressed, I sat side by side with employees and learned that whether it be an employee, management, or consumer-based issue, it is more important to focus on finding a solution and working efficiently. The internal team that I am working alongside has taught me that adapting to a situation and working to find a solution is the key to getting the job done. Having an opportunity to explore other areas of the company has also given me curiosity to potentially branch out as I continue my internship and focus on more than one area if the opportunity arises. I enjoy learning more about the company and the office culture, seeing how everyone works independently and together to not just understand roles within the company, but also to keep the office an enjoyable working environment.                     For the remainder of my internship, I am excited to work on several projects that have been specifically planned out for me! My team at Reyes Beverage Group has been nothing short of incredibly welcoming and accepting. Chicago Scholars has guided me during this entire process, and working on a capstone project has motivated me even more! I am glad to be working with both of them this summer and cannot wait to see what I learn and all the challenges that I will overcome!

Well if given a chance to choose a day, I would choose the previous weekend, I had a chance to spend time with my family, Okay done with that, Back in college we applied for internship at various hotel, But there was this one 5 star hotel that was angry with our previous course mates, They were given a chance but they didn't deliver well, Okay, they had the skills and every requirement needed, But their attitude was 0.00% What a shock on those who had applied and hoped for the best, They were left with no option but choose other hotels, Let me clear the air, I wasn't among those who were served the shock💔 On Saturday I shared an article on ATTITUDE, This hotel was our customer we offered students (services) to them,. But the attitude was the problem, ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING, A customer is like a magnet she attracts other customers, Of course there were some other hotels who heard the story and cancelled the internship, When the service is good, but the attitude is poor, The customer won't be satisfied, And that's how the client turns into a magnet, It's yet another new week my people, I wish you a long fruitful week ♥️ Meeting me for the first time ? The first internship experience of a Chinese student in the United States is really... It was so fun and awesome!! I interned at Hilton Columbus at Easton. My internship was in the banquet department. The main project I am engaged in now is to learn how to arrange banquets and how to prepare for banquets with my colleagues. Sometimes, I also learn how to arrange and hold regular meetings around leaders. The skills I am developing are related to the etiquette and hygiene of banquets and catering, such as the placement of coffee cups and the hygiene of knives and forks. All these are conducive to my future work in the hotel because the most important thing in the hotel work is to make guests feel enthusiastic, solve problems for guests, and ensure the most important health for guests. During the internship, I learned a lot of things, such as making utensils serving meals, etc. I am a very introverted person, but once I took the initiative to ask customers what help they needed and provided services to them, which felt really good. This is my first internship in a hotel, and I think it is a great growth for me, which makes me know what the specific work of the banquet department is, which can help my future career development.
