I was putting in the hours at Accenture as a full stack developer. Sounds glamorous, right? But honestly, I was feeling a bit stuck. Despite the pay, I wasn't feeling challenged anymore. It was like repeating the same things everyday. Then it hit me. 🤯 If I wanted things to change, I had to take control of my own growth. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟. It wasn't smooth sailing. I spent weeks searching for ways to learn new things, but it felt like I was hitting dead ends. That's when I stumbled upon upskilling program. I trusted on myself and enrolled in an 𝐀𝐳𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐎𝐩𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞, and yes, it was a game-changer! In just a month, I went from feeling stagnant to feeling confident and skilled. And you know what? Investing in myself didn't just benefit me personally. It also made me better at my job. Thanks for letting me change #Accenture Let there be change is Accenture’s slogan. But what happens to people working at Accenture that change, change their life path? This is what me and my family did. We moved to another country. It is a thrilling and life-changing experience. It opens up a whole new world of opportunities, challenges, and personal growth. Many people I talked to last year before our move said, “wow this is great, I also once thought about it. In fact, it is an often-discussed topic at social events “did you ever live abroad?”. So, when is the right time to venture onto this endeavor? We did dive into it last year. After living almost all our lives in Munich, we jumped into the new and moved to Cape Town, South Africa. We fulfilled our dream of meeting new people, new cultures, walking on the beach every day we feel like it, surfing amazing waves, enjoying the wide back country and the vibrant atmosphere and the wine down here. And what a great idea it was, so far neither our daughter nor my wife regret any minute of it. So why do I need to #thank #Accenture for this? Accenture supported us all the way on this journey. I went on a half year sabbatical to get things organized and take some time off to spend with family and settle in. Accenture also organized my transfer to the Cape Town office. I was honestly surprised how positive, supportive, and helpful everyone from Leadership to HR to the project teams, clients and colleagues was around me. Thank you all to let me change! One of our mentees who got into Accenture Strategy & Consulting was given a cost-centric case. It was a conventional profitability problem but the focus on cost made it a lot more trickier.
