I got my job at Klowt because I took my therapist's advice. Many of you messaged me following my last post asking what I said in my message to Amelia; well, here it is for all to see… But where on earth did I get the confidence to send this message? Full disclosure, although I’m usually a very confident and self-assured person on the outside, when I sent this message, I was in an awful place. I was struggling in my last role - I had hit a wall with what I could and wanted to do, and I was having a bit of an identity crisis. I was seriously considering going back to a grad scheme at one of the big four like I had initially planned - I clearly needed a temperature check at that point because that’s just not me 🤒. On Wednesday night, I was in full meltdown mode, and my gorgeous therapist Tracey Hill and I were talking about the type of company I wanted to work for and the role I wanted to do. Of course, Klowt and Amelia Sordell 🔥 came up, but I brushed over it and said how on earth would I get a job there? Tracey - being the woman she is - was appalled at my lack of self-belief and told me to reach out anyway, no expectations of a job and put it out into the world. So I did; I sent this message without even knowing whether they were hiring. And here I am, on the train on my way to my first off-site client strategy and content day. 💁🏽♀️ So, if you are wondering where to start when you want something that seems out of reach, just reach out, make it different and if it doesn’t work out for whatever reason, then at least you are on their radar for the future.
