Happy Monday, everyone! 🥳🙌 Today, I took a deep dive into applied cybersecurity by creating my very first port scanner using Python3 and the nano editor on Kali Linux! This was a personal challenge to build a basic but functional MVP within three hours and commit the results to the annals of the internet for ALL TIME 👀 🏆 MVP Highlights: 1) Multi-target Scanning: The scanner can handle multiple targets simultaneously. 2) Customizable Port Range: Users can specify the number of ports to scan. 3) Open Ports Display: The program outputs all open ports to the terminal upon completion. 4) UI Enhancements with termcolor: I incorporated the termcolor module for better terminal visualization. 🔮Future Enhancements: 1) Scanning Indicators: Implementing a progress indicator to show ongoing scans. 2) Completion Notification: Adding a clear notification once the scan completes, especially when no open ports are found. 3) Safety Mechanisms: Introducing safeguards against infinite loops to ensure smooth operation. 🎓Learning Outcomes: 1) Termcolor Module: My first experience with termcolor was a great way to enhance the user experience. 2) Nano Editor Proficiency: I improved my efficiency with basic nano commands, which is a handy skill for quick edits. 3) Python3 Refresher: This project was a nice refresher on Python3 syntax, as I've been mostly working with JavaScript lately. This project was a fun and educational experience, and I’m looking forward to building on this foundation as I continue my journey in cybersecurity. 🚀 #Cybersecurity #Python3 #EthicalHacking #LearningJourney #TechSkills #PortScanner #UIUX #KaliLinux
