MQL targets are not it if you want sales & marketing alignment. Why? Smart people will optimize for what they're evaluated on. And in this case, it's at the expense of the business. If an MQL target is the end-all-be-all metric, marketers probably aren't going to care if those MQLs convert into pipeline or revenue. And that's no good for anyone. Just because you can easily track a metric doesn't mean you should.
