"Does mission REALLY matter during recruitment?" Yeah... it does. Much like you, when I decided it was time to expand my team, I had to prioritize what qualities the candidate needed. - Highest education level?  - Best references?  - Most experience in the field? Or, how about, "Most likely to believe in me, my company, and our collective future." That was Austin Shifflett. Of all of those qualities, you can guess which one is the hardest to learn from an Employee Handbook. I prioritized mission alignment because I needed someone who cared about more than showing up, collecting a paycheck, and biding their time until a better offer came along.
