Supervisor Work Integrated Learning | Career Development Practitioner | Enhancing Student Career Journeys

This is an important topic for the WIL/co-op & student work experience space. I experienced the importance of having conversations with students who are preparing for their co-op and WIL experiences while I was helping out with mock interviews this week. I jumped in to help with a 3:30 interview with a student, who seemed very low energy throughout the interview. They lost their train of thought responding to a question near the end of the interview, and said "I'm sorry I'm not as sharp as I want to be, I'm fasting right now" We ended up having a very good conversation about preparing for the upcoming interviews during Ramadan. As important as it is to have these conversations with our students, it was also a good reminder that we should also be preparing and reminding our co-op and WIL partners to create space and consider how they can be supportive and compassionate to students who are interviewing during this time. #workintegratedlearning #wil #coop #studentworkexperience #inclusiveeducation #inclusiveworkplace

As the holy month of Ramadan (March 11 - April 10) begins, consider some simple and accommodating ways to support co-workers, friends, and members of your community who may be observing. Different people will be celebrating #Ramadan in a variety of ways, so remember to be respectful and flexible.
